We just love staying at the granaries. We knew we were choosing an 'upside down' house with the bedrooms downstairs and low ceilings but wanted the balcony. Probably we will go for one of the other properties next time as we all bumped our heads! we will definitely be back though. The whole holiday was just one of the best. Our welcome was again so genuine, the place was spotless and fresh. We so enjoy the boat hire facility and even though I get wet with the kayaks (because I am useless at it!) it is a wonderful way to see the river. There are so many great places to visit including our find for this year ofs' restaurant in the local nursery. But just hanging out in malt shovel is also great. How angie and tony arranged for the baby ring necked doves to spend the week with us and then fly their nest as we left we will never know! Joy from Morden, Surrey (08 July 2017)
This was our fourth visit, we love it and find it very relaxing the owners mr & mrs urwin are very helpful and always on hand if required. Worth hiring a day boat there are some lovely places to visit. Paul from Sutton Bridge (24 June 2017)
Perfectly located for exploring norfolk broads and nature reserves. pool, sauna and gym a great facility. owners helpful and welcoming. Alison from Huddersfield (29 April 2017)
We loved it! friendly atmosphere - great pool - cottage was splendid and beautifully clean and well equipped - would go again tomorrow if I had the time Euleen from Bromley (01 April 2017)
Booked late, fantastic week with very friendly and accommodating hosts. Pool was great for the kids and us to relax at the end of a busy day. Central location for the broads and surrounding norfolk. . will book again. Malcolm from Essex (05 November 2016)
Enjoyed our stay and would be happy to recommend the malt shovel as a perfect. Place to stay to enjoy peace and quiet and see lots of wildlife. The swimming pool on site. Was a fantastic added bonus. The only thing that was missing was the shower over the bath in the second bedroom, it . didn't spoil our holiday, but it is listed as being there in your information. Joan from North Somerset (08 October 2016)
Lovely cottage. Very comfortable. Ideal for a relaxing break. a car is necessary. Sharon from Essex (10 September 2016)
We had a lovely relaxing break at malt shovel. Would definately recommend staying there and will probably visit again. . angie is very welcoming and accommodating. Joanne from Bexleyheath (13 August 2016)
The malt shovel cottage was lovely and a great base for the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday. Mitchell from Kilmarnock (09 July 2016)
Ideal place for a quiet relaxing break . the owner was very friendly and helpful. It was nice having the pool to ourselves during the stay which could be used at any time. Being attached to a boatyard it was easy to hire a day boat . owing to the age of the building there were some low beams on the ground floor where the bedrooms were. If you are tall be careful not to bang your head. Dave from Buckley (02 July 2016)
Excellent location with huge choice of places to visit within 30-40 minutes drive. Owners were chatty and friendly but not intrusive. Swimming pool was a great size. Library, dvd and game hire were great additions too. Used the rowing boat almost every day plus we hired a motorboat and kayak too - with a residents discount we would have hired them more than once though. Will visit again. Teresa from Ampthill (09 April 2016)
A very clean and comfortable cottage, having everything that we needed. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Set in a very good location for visiting the broads and other areas. We would be quite happy to stay there again if visiting that area. Phillippa from Ashford, Kent (17 October 2015)
A really wonderful holiday, I would recomend it to anyone, lovely cottage lovely pool, only . downside, the fishing was poor Marshall from West Yorks. (10 October 2015)
The malt shovel is a delightful, little cottage, with its upside down quirkiness adding to its charm. Trish from Leeds (12 September 2015)
Lovely balcony over looking the broads and great access to canoes etc. . great female host - always welcoming, good knowledge of area . . decor very dated. . disappointed that the cottage was very basic- just enough crockery to get by that didn't match and was too small. . overall house extension clearly done on a budget that detracted from the history from the older part. . . the small garden we had was over run with weeds. Hannah from Leeds (22 August 2015)
This was our second visit, and we enjoyed just as much as the first, the cottage is very clean and well fitted out with all you need for self catering, mr & mrs urwin are extremely good hosts. We find the setting very agreeable, and will no doubt return again. Paul from Sutton Bridge (27 June 2015)
It was a lovely relaxing holiday with added swimming pool and sauna a great plus lovely location for places to visit nearby beaches in driving distance eating out spoilt for choice . . . . . t esco nearby for eating in. Wroxham was lovely with veiws of the broads and roys stores. Hired a boat from owners angie and tony they brought it right up to the back of you property. They were friendly and wellcoming and nothing was to much trouble if you wanted any thing. Swimming pool and sauna added bonus. Terrace to sit out on over looking river and boats would go back again. Brother and his family come down for the day he was impressed and told people he knew and they wanted to book the holiday too. Lynn from Essex (20 June 2015)
Had a lovely holiday. Great welcome from the owner. They had left no stone unturned. Lovely facilities. Many thanks. Hannah from Bedford (30 May 2015)
The property and the hostess were excellent, nothing was too much. Trouble for her, the accommodation was warm, clean and comfortable , beds and sofa clean and comfortable a really nice place to be. Safe parking, marvelous swimming pool a perfect holiday destination for quiet couples and families alike, loved it, thank you Christine from Suffolk (09 May 2015)

Very friendly and welcoming owners. Good location with lots to do for all ages. first visit to norfolk and would definitely go back. Sue from South Oxfordshire (13 September 2014)
Excellent facilities. Really friendly staff. Brilliant week. thank you. Cate from Andover (26 July 2014)
The cottage was adequate. the outside area is in need of some maintenance. the windows were dirty and the patio furniture and veranda are in need of painting. it looked as though it had never been cleaned. for the amount we paid I expected much better. as for the creaking floorboards, I appreciate that the property was old but the noisy floorboards drove us mad! the downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms felt constantly damp and smelled musty. our towels never got dry. the bedrooms are very small. There was no hot water when we arrived. the swimming pool was very nice although not very warm. the courtyard garden area was nice but we did not use it as the weather was not very good. Kathleen from Long Sutton, Spalding (12 July 2014)
A superb setting, a very restful holiday, lovely cottage fitted out to a very high standard, lovely pool. our week went far too quickly, recommend a day boat and fishing rod! owners were very accommodating nothing was any trouble and any problems were sorted our straight away. Would recommend it highly, will certainly revisit. Paul from Sutton Bridge (21 June 2014)
Ideal location overlooking the river . with the owners boatyard on site. You can hire day boats within the compound . great location as a base to explore norfolk as well . great pub across the road serving excellent pub grub (owned by marco pierre white). very friendly owners who were there if you needed them and not when you didn't . lovely pool on site for the exclusive use of the holiday cottages . I thought the bedrooms were on the damp side which made them smell a bit and a bit cold . other than that the whole place was lovely David from Swanland E.Yorks. (31 May 2014)
We had a wonderful, peaceful time. the lan dlady was welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. would thoroughly recommend it. Carolynne from Sittingbourne (17 May 2014)

The property is in a lovely location. A fab base for messing about on the broads. The accommodation is very comfortable and the verandah was a real bonus with having young children. The swimming pool was the icing on the cake. A big thank you to the very friendly and helpful owners. Customer 38 (August 2009)
We were greeted with enthusiasm and shown our apartment by the owner. It was very comfortable and we had breakfast on the veranda overlooking the boat yard. The indoor pool was excellent and we used it every day. The location enabled us to visit a wide range of attractions including several of the northern Norfolk Broads (Horning, Ranworth and How Hill were our favourites), bird sanctuaries, the Broads Museum and East Rushton Old Vicarage gardens and the coast at Cromer. Customer 39 (May 2009)
