When we eventually arrived at the cottage, we discovered it was very dusty. Floors were not clean. Hot water and central heating were controlled by the owner. The first morning I got a cold shower because the residents in the adjoining cottage had used all the hot water. When I mentioned this to the owner she stated it was a shared boiler, which in my mind is not acceptable, and does not state this in brochure. The facilities inthe area are poor. We will return to this cottage. Very disappointed. Dorothy from East Ayrshire (30 June 2017)
The pictures on your web site are misleading. They show a well groomed sitting out area which is in fact overgrown nd not as indicated. There is no wi fib and no mobile phone service in the cottagez Eric from Shrewsbury (17 June 2017)
Hi enjoyed swallows rest lovely little cottage, got all you need for a good break.handy for coast blackpool fleetwood and st.annes.two fisheries very close to cottage, owner very nice and informative.would go again you would certainly need a car to get around to shops etc.very quite and comfortable and plenty wildlife. Oline from Coatbridge (15 October 2016)
Lovely stay..nice cottage with everything you could possibly need for your stay. great location..we visited the lake district, preston, manchester, liverpool fleetwood and blackpool during our stay all within about an hours drive (blackpool 15 mins). the owner mrs johnson is lovely and a font of local knowledge. finally, not sure it's fully detailed in the description but it's fully wheelchair accessible and flat access throughout incuding the bathroom so suitablr for all...highly recommended!! John from Croydon (01 October 2016)
Had a great time , peaceful just what we needed.good location tho a little far to the local inn.the cottage was ideal & mrs johnston was a delight.. Confirmed Guest (18 August 2016)
This cottage looks very good on first impression, with washer/dryer and dishwasher extra to other accommodation. Although doors are wide enough for wheelchair access, the high cupboards are difficult to reach into for any but the tallest, and no steps provided. Full instructions for the kitchen machines are provided, but bring your magnifier to read them. They are unnecessarily complex. . the bed is a small double only 4'4" wide, so a good night's sleep can be compromised, which spoiled our holiday. Space in the bedroom is taken up by deep wall to wall cupboards containing what seem to be unwanted items, leaving minimal hanging space. Margaret from Caistor (31 October 2015)
Cottage is clean, comfortable and fitted out to a high standard. It is well located, in a rural location yet only a mile from the motorway, with easy access to the lakes, dales or blackpool. Linda the owner, lives in the house next to the cottage, she was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay at swallows rest and will be back next year. Nesta from Anglesey (24 October 2015)
Lovely little place, but little is the word. I know it was only meant for 3, and was always going to be small, but we expected it to be a bit bigger. However having said that, it was well equipped, clean and in a lovely spot! we really enjoyed our weekend break. The local indian restaraunt is also excellent! Vicki from Warrington (07 September 2015)
Lovely place ideal for fishing, our second visit there and we will go back again. . the owners very helpful and friendly. Bob from Ipswich (20 June 2015)
Perfect for a base to get about .i liked the wet room shower as it made things better for us . we had a great stay. Eunice from Gravesend (13 June 2015)
We received a lovely welcome. It was a very peaceful location and the cottage was home from home, with everything we needed for comfort on our holiday. Mike from Manchester (16 May 2015)
A nice holiday let, tucked away but really near the motorway without being bothered by any noise from the proximity. it means that you can get to lots of the places you want to go easily. Forest of bowland, ribchester, clitheroe, blackpool, lytham, lancaster and morecambe (for a great afternoon tea at midland hotel) all worth visiting and within easy reach. the bed was a bit small and the bedroom hot. we were there at the beginning of may and the weather was not that warm; glad we were not there in hot weather. the property has nice furnishings and kitchen equipment and the tv is good. shower / wet room good. . we saw the owner briefly which was fine; we didn't want to be constantly attended to. however, we knew she was there if needed and she kindly posted some earrings I had left in the property. . . a good property for 2 people. Carolyne from London (09 May 2015)
Really lovely break David from New Milton (21 March 2015)

Lovely welcome, well equipped cottage and lovely setting. Jackie from Banbury (12 April 2014)
Swallows rest was a true home away from home. It had everything we could have needed. Linda, the owner was lovely, popped in for a nice chat, checked we were ok. Couldn't have asked for anything more!. . the location of this cottage was ideal. It was only a 5 minute drive to the kirkham junction of the m55. We popped into blackpool a few times and explored the nearby lytham area. We spent a lot of time in the cottage, did our own cooking and baking (and even washing and tumble drying!) the sky tv and blu-ray player were also welcome additions!. . we came to swallows rest for a relaxing week away for my fiancée's birthday. This is exactly what we got! thanks! I think I mentioned I would be booking the same week next year!. . kindest regards. . peter and kayleigh Peter from Liverpool (22 February 2014)
We stayed over a very wet new year and the cottage was a very comfy, warm place ! Ann from Chester (04 January 2014)
Swalows rest was the perfect break for couples wishing to have a relaxing holiday. Very easy to find using the directions, linda( the owner) was very welcoming , on arrival. A nice touch was the kitchen had all you would require, i.e. Condiments, cleaning equip. Etc. Very handy for just about everywhere in lancashire should you want to sightsee/shop. My wife and I would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone should they enquire. Jon from South Shields (09 November 2013)

Lovely cottage in a great location. just off the motorway but in a quiet country location. handy for the attractions of blackpool but can escape the hustle and bustle for the peace of the countryside. the owner, mrs johnston was very friendly and helpful and the cottage had lots of amenities provided that you just might have forgot to pack. Lorraine from Kilwinning (02 August 2013)

Renovated and furnished to a very high standard. Cosy and comfortable accommodation. Lovely tranquil setting. Wonderful owner! v helpful and friendly. Shops and pubs only a short drive away. Sarah from Reading (22 June 2012)
Swallows Rest is a beautiful barn conversion, renovated to a very high standard, in a lovely rural location. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and is extremely cosy and comfortable, despite its ultra modern feel. The owner is a wonderful host - very helpful and friendly, but without being obtrusive. Despite it’s rural location, there are several pubs and shops a short drive away, and the cottage makes a great base for visiting the north-west coast. We were so pleased to find such a high standard of accommodation in such a tranquil setting and we can’t wait to return! Customer 33 (June 2012)
Swallows Rest was very good but we were there really to visit our friend in hospital rather than a "holiday" so it was only a 2 day stay. Everything was fine in the cottage & the small garden we found "restful". Customer 34 (May 2012)
When we arrived the own was very welcoming, such a beautiful location, go to the fishing pool down the road and they do value for money meals and they to are very welcoming, It was such a beautiful and calming place to me, just what I needed. Thank you again for a beautiful stay. Customer 35 (April 2012)
A lovely, welcoming cottage with all the home comforts you could need - and more! The cottage is fitted to a very high standard indeed and the owner could not have been more helpful and made our stay even more pleasant. I would recommend this holiday property to anyone. Customer 36 (April 2012)
Very helpful owner, made us feel very welcome on our 5 day break. Gave us tips on places to visit. Would recommend the eagle and child pub which serves fantastic food at great prices. Accommodation was cosy and very well presented, we enjoyed it so much we didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to visit again. Customer 37 (October 2011)
The owner Mrs Johnston is extremely nice and helpful. The cottage is situated in a very quiet location. There are plenty of places to go too. The railway station at Kirkham is very handy for Manchester, Liverpool, London plus many more. Our favourite eating place was the Eagle and Child a few minutes away by car. This is our second year at Swallows Rest and we will probably go back next year as there are still places I would like to visit and it feels to homely. Customer 38 (July 2011)

A lovely cottage in a quiet countryside location yet only 10 mins from Blackpool. The standard of fixtures and fittings is superb, better than what we have at home.
