Amazing little cottage. So well presented. Could live there!!! Confirmed Guest (17 July 2017)
The little cottage equipment was good quality, everything was there including wi-fi! the welcome pack of coffee, tea, milk and a bottle of wine was a nice touch. however there were for us a few drawbacks. the stairs were a bit of a beast as we are both over 70 and sadly our knees are not too hot, nevertheless we knew there would be stairs when we booked. the traffic noise from the quarry lorries made it rather noisy (we live in a quiet village, so others who are used to traffic might not find this a problem). the heat on the first night made sleeping difficult, there is no ventilation, other than leaving the front door open, something not advisable when you are sleeping. a fan on each floor would have helped as the it was very stuffy the whole week. parking is an issue most definitely, there are no assigned parking spaces in north street and we were lucky after a couple of hours to find a space there. we left the car there all week. we have a little dog and the lack of an outside space was an issue. to take her out to toilet when we were in the cottage especially in the evening and early morning, involved crossing the main road cromford hill , a very busy road, to a patch of grass verge. It was an central cottage to enjoy the derwent valley and its lovely walks which we thoroughly enjoyed. Valerie from Lincoln (14 July 2017)
Fantastic cottage with everything you need. . olde worldly, large beams, old stone..beautiful!!. and a bose music system! Richard from Brighton (09 July 2017)
Great little holiday home, but not for us. As the weekend we stayed there was an event on at the pub which this is connected too which meant parking quite far away and a lot of noise. If we weren't on a business trip and had to be up very early we may have joined in. Ian (21 June 2017)
We could not park outside the property, the directions to the property was misleading and it was not suitable for people with dogs. Michael (29 May 2017)
Excellent cottage! parking is a bit of a problem, but we would stay again, being the wiser for the knowledge. Very much home from home. No garden though, so if you have a dog, you need to walk out, even in the middle of the night! Teresa from Downham Market, Norfolk (16 May 2017)
It was perfect, such an amazing littte cottage in an amazing place! absolutely stunning scenery, great walks! just a perfect break away and it's not too far from home! I loved it, I wish we stayed longer. Me and my partner had the best time here, we didn't want to leave! all of the locals were so friendly, everyone said hello! there is so much to do, loads of beautiful routs to walk, heights of abraham, cute surrounding towns and villages. We would definitely come back! Megan from Northamptonshire (23 April 2017)
A lovely little cottage and lot so of great walks for me and the pooch. Road from the noise spooked him a little as it was very loud which was the only downfall to a brilliant stay! Chantelle from Grimsby (21 April 2017)
Beautiful cottage just perfect for me and my dog only thing I would suggest is maybe a map of the local area (difficult to get mobile signal in some places) but apart from that it was great. Kuldip from Birmingham (10 February 2017)
Had a lovely stay so cosy Confirmed Guest (27 December 2016)
A lovely little cottage situated in a great location. The fire was amazing and such a treat. The cottage had everything we needed there, we'd definitely recommend it :) Laura from London (18 December 2016)
Beautiful little cottage, smart use of space, high level of finish, very comfortable!. for weekend visitors an option to have wood/kindling/fire lighters in place would be great - we got there late and weren't able to use the stove for the first night (other visitors maybe stock up from a petrol station en route). also being out by 10am feels ott. Like you can't have a lie in or proper breakfast. 12.00 check out /3 next guest check in feels like it would work for everyone? Tony from Brighton (11 December 2016)
We really enjoyed our stay at the little cottage. It had everything we needed for our two night stay, with the wood burning fire adding that special touch. The amenities are modern, and the place was incredibly clean. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a cosy, relaxed setting to explore the beautiful surrounding areas. Caroline from Bedfordshire (24 November 2016)
Great location and lovely, homely and cosy place to stay. We loved it and would definitely recommend it to others. Great use of a small space with lots of character. Jennifer from Southampton (14 November 2016)
Good location ideal for couple who like walking and varied interests plenty to see and do around the area. Sheila from Old Kilpatrick (24 October 2016)
Delightful cottage in a great location. Well equipped and beautifully furnished. Very cosy especially with woodburner alight. Barbara from Ipswich (17 October 2016)
I am not sure what we were expecting but the little cottage is certainly little. when arriving we tried to light a fire but we had only been left a small amount of kindling and instructions on where to purchase wood (which we had to drive to). the welcome pack consisted of a bottle of wine and a pint of milk. when I tried to wash up after cooking a meal (the kitchen is very small but well equipped) there was no hot water - I boiled the kettle thinking that it was a blip however the shower then did not work - was either freezing cold or boiling hot. We telephoned to the cleaning lady who was very responsive and told us that we needed to move the stop cock slightly and the water would work. we were also told that there were two on street parking spaces available to us but there were not - there was parking available on a small road about 20 yards away but if this was full there would be no where near to park your car. there was also nowhere outside for the dog - it is advertised on web sites as a dog friendly property. Sarah from Leicestershire (06 October 2016)
Beautiful little cottage in cromford, easy walk in to matlock Lisa from Bradford (31 July 2016)
Little cottage is a beautiful, quaint and clean property - I can't believe how much has been squeezed into such a small space without feeling claustrophobic! location was great to explore the bottom of the peak district with many great places around to eat (although not necessary as the kitchen was very well equipped!) only problems we found were it was quite stuffy in the july heat as none of the windows open. This could be solved if a fan was supplied. We also had no hot water during our stay - not a major issue, just a bit annoying, and wouldn't hopefully affect other people's stay. It said in the welcome pack that the water is heated as used, but we had no joy. This wouldn't stop us staying again nor recommending it to others. I think the property would be perfect during the winter, especially with the fire going! Zoe from Southampton (27 July 2016)
Ventilation needs addressing also outside yard needs good clean Brian from York (10 June 2016)
Lovely cottage in a pleasant spot with lots of walks from the door Alison from Coalville (16 May 2016)
Tasteful, delightful, relaxed ambience. Alan from Weston Super Mare (12 May 2016)
Very nice place has everything you need, comfy, the only downside is couldn't open windows in the location Confirmed Guest (08 May 2016)
Lovely little cottage, well provisioned and decorated. We had a very comfortable stay. Many thanks for the wine! Confirmed Guest (03 May 2016)
Lovely little cottage, very clean, great facilities, good quality, comfortable and good location, cromford is quiet and cosy, 5mins drive to matlock bath, 25mins to bakewell. Had a great cosy night in with good food, wine, log fire after a day of walking and sightseeing. Jo from Sutton Coldfield (17 April 2016)
Lovely little cottage. Thank you for the wine in the fridge and the milk etc. It felt like home away from home. Ruth from St Albans (13 April 2016)
Lovely cottage! beautiful area with lots of walks. . brilliantly situated in a nice village with lots of local shops. Cottage had all that we needed for cooking, cleaning, and sleeping. bed was comfortable and cottage was well decorated with lovely features. Welcome pack of milk and wine was a nice touch. Wine was lovely. The cottage had good history linked to the town. Would stay again. Wifi was easy to connect to and worked well. Lovely to be able to have our dog on holiday with us. Laura from Lowestoft (08 April 2016)
The cottage is in a lovely position and we really enjoyed exploring cromford. The keysafe system worked well. There is unavoidablre noise from heavy lorries going up and down the main road. The cottage is cramped but well thought out for the space available. The kitchen equipment was rather odd, with large cooking pots, and saucepans without lids, unsuitable for two or three persons. The wooden stairway had no hand rail in parts, a little unsafe. The bed was heavy and I can understand why it did not get moved, but as I had to retrieve something from under the bed, I found a lot of accumulated dirt there. The roof lights had not been cleaned, though might be difficult to reach. All in all it was not a great experience, so we would not visit again. Sarah from Bristol (01 April 2016)
Amazing cottage in great location. Lots to do. Very comfy bed! great access to local shops and some really good countryside walks. Very clean. Highly recommended :) love the decor Michelle from Nottingham (28 March 2016)
Lovely place. Very comfortable & clean. Possibly the most comfortable bed i've slept in! great to be able to take the dog. The only downside - and absolutely no fault of the owners or the cottage - was the noise from the road about 100 yards away - especially the quarry lorries, which, on the monday morning of our stay started shaking the cottage from about 6 am. Nobby from Ampthill (21 March 2016)
Perfect little cottage for our weekend exploring the peak district! clean, tidy and tasteful decor. Close to pub and local shops. We really enjoyed our stay. Very impressed!!! :) John from Bedfordshire (07 March 2016)
Lovley clean cottage, friendly area and lovley dog walks, would return Sue from West Yorkshire (27 February 2016)
Cottage was perfect location great as well so snug and perfect great we could have our dog their as well!! will defo be returning in the future Glenn from Baildon (14 February 2016)
Lovely little cottage and well looked after. perfect weekend for us. thank you Emily from Cambridge (31 January 2016)
Very cosy, exactly the little hide-away we were looking for Sarah from Birmingham (17 January 2016)
The cottage was very clean and cosy. I know we were warned about the stairs but I think there should be a risk assessment done and also a stair gate fitted at the top. Unfortunately tim got up to use the bathroom in the early hours and ended up at the very bottom, he was lucky to have no broken bones but very bruised and badly cut. Alice from Leicestershire (03 January 2016)
Lovely cosy cottage. Had a fantastic weekend away staying here and would love to visit again! Kat from London (29 November 2015)
Lovely little place very welcoming. Close to places of interest, everything you need from towels to washing tablets for washer dryer. They also provided a bottle of wine for your stay. The information pack was good with password for wifi. Really relaxing time and very cosey ,hope to visit again when more attractions are open. Mrs Sarah from Norwich (20 November 2015)
A wonderfull weekend of long walks and late drinks in the sublime peak district. . cromford boasts a couple of pubs and a couple of chip shops a butchers and a fantastic veggie friendly book shop/cafe - a fantastic base for a weekend exploring. . little cottage's exceptional location in the heart of the village and is a mere 1 minute walk (2 minute saunter) from the above mentioned pubs and chippys. The cottage size is the perfect amount of small and cosy for a couple with a dog - the kitchen is fully stocked with all the bits and bobs you would need for hangover breakfast and preparing packed lunches. The bedroom is surprisingly spacious and light and conducive to a great nights rest, and the bathroom pleasingly was clean and modern - all in all fantastic. . slight down side is the traffic noise, when laying in bed, but this is clutching at straws for a balancing negative - a perfectly reasonable negative considering the good location. Scott from Buckinghamshire (13 September 2015)
The cottage is lovely but the noise from the busy road into cromford can be irritating especially early in the morning. it is well equipped and comfortable. the stairs could be an issue for some people but you just have to be careful. Sue from Pontypool, Gwent (27 August 2015)
Great cottage for a weekend winter break. Warm and cosy, and has everything you need. High quality furnishings and equipment. Welcome pack of wine, milk, tea and coffee was a nice touch. Good location for many walks around the peak district. Only downside is the traffic noise. Would come back again. Amanda from Melton Mowbray (22 February 2015)
Rather than a bottle of wine on arrival a bag of wood for the fire would be very much appreciated. Arriving then having to go out for wood late at night in the dark finding places shut is not a good start. Also we found it difficult without proper lighting to identify how to open the front door. A real struggle on first arriving. Apart from that our holiday was enjoyable. Louise from Perth (27 December 2014)
The holiday cottage itself was brilliant and I was impressed with how clean it was however we were instructed to park near by the pub but unfortunately there were no spaces both nights we stayed there and had to park the car on the main road. Tamsin from Tamworth (17 November 2014)
Lovely little cottage. Had a super weekend, can recommend it. Kevin from Castleford (21 September 2014)
This is a lovely, quaint cottage. Modern facilities. The stairs are a little worrying but if you're careful then it's fine. Great location for links to amazing walks. Village amenities are great and all friendly. Highly recommend little cottage Tracy from Bishop'S Stortford (08 September 2014)
Lack of hot water in both sinks and a very unpredictable shower spoilt our enjoyment a little. Some logs for fire would be good or clear info in the advertising that these were not present. We would have appreciated a fire for 1 or 2 nights with the unpredictable weather but not worth buying once there. Sheila from Hassocks (17 May 2014)
Only criticism was the difficulty experienced with the shower. Low water pressure meant it could not maintain a temperature without returning to freezing cold unless on economy setting. Otherwise we found it to be a charming and comfortable property. Martin from Spalding (05 May 2014)
A lovely little cottage in a pleasant village. Sarah from London (28 March 2014)
Lovely place to stay absolutely loved our two nights here wouldn't hesitate to come back again this year! loved the little touches of this cottage :) Lydia from Hertfordshire (24 March 2014)
Very comfortable cottage. Nice location, clean with good facilities. The boat inn has a relaxed atmosphere with good food. Martin from Sale. (22 March 2014)
The cottage was really lovely, perfect for two for a couple of days. The village was very friendly, and a walk into matlock. If you could just get rid of that memory phone mattress please then it would be a 10/10!! Gail from Salford (15 March 2014)
Wonderful cottage, felt immediately at home. Good quality throughout and very welcoming Julie from Holland (23 February 2014)
We had a lovely stay it was well equipped and nicely furnished throughout in a compact way. the busy road was a little too close which as a shame also the initial photo makes you think the cottage has the green door and not the black one. we did have a good stay for the 4 nights. Kathleen from Berkshire (21 February 2014)
Car parking a bit of an issue. Jennie from Town (14 February 2014)
Brilliant little cottage, everything we wanted . Confirmed Purchaser (10 February 2014)
Beautiful cottage in a pretty village Paul from Stoke-On-Trent (31 January 2014)
A great little cottage in a great location with fantastic facilities. Except, the bed is awful. You role to the middle and it sags terribly, it spoilt a lovely little break. Ian from Norwich (09 January 2014)
What a lovely little cottage in a fantastic location. We spent a lovely, relaxed christmas here and would love to come back. Jo from Bristol (28 December 2013)
Really good location for exploring this part of the country. Neil from Solihull (15 December 2013)
Better than we'd hoped for! wonderful cottage, really lovely and clean, in a great location, more suitable for a winter getaway than a summer one as it was nice and cosy! Elly from Birmingham (01 December 2013)
A cracking cottage which was very cosy. Suzie from Derby (29 November 2013)
Though beautifully crafted and furnished, the cottage is expensive for the size. And unfortunately the cottage completely lacks any sound insulation, which meant two very broken nights sleep due to passing traffic on the adjacent main road. I sleep better at home and I have 1 year old twins.in this case, style isn't everything. Gareth from Newcastle (24 November 2013)
We enjoyed a pleasant stay at the little cottage. The cottage was compact. The stairs would challenge any one with a disability. The cottage was clean and welcoming. The only disadvantage from our point of view was that the parking was difficult but this was a minor problem. We would stay at the cottage again. Pete from Bicester (04 October 2013)
This was a tiny little cottage with ok facilities. unfortunately it was so close to a main road with lorries that we did not sleep well. the area was lovely but i'd find somewhere quieter next time. Stuart from Esher, Surrey (24 August 2013)
Great little cottage with everything you need for a short stay. Walking distance to matlock bath which is a really nice little town. The only negative comment we had about the cottage was that the only windows that could open are upstairs and they're not the easiest. Other than that, an amazing little cottage and we had a great time. Sam from Kings Lynn (12 August 2013)
Lovely cottage, very well equipped and comfy. Nice touch such as tea, coffee, milk etc on arrival. Good location for visiting lots of places. Chatsworth, dovedale, matlock etc. Road a bit noisy though but not a real problem Marita from Southend On Sea Essex (19 Jul 2013)
Extremely comfortable and welcoming. Cromford is a very nice village, very friendly people. Peter from Morecambe (10 Jun 2013)
Location was fantastic in terms of near main attractions so little driving and plenty of walks around. Village had all you could need. Laura from Northampton (07 Jun 2013)
Very clean and tidy. lots of little extras like tea, coffee, wine. very well decorated. Sharon from Leicester (02 Jun 2013)
Property finished and laid out to a high standard, easy walking distance to local pubs/town and also attractive surrounding area to explore - car/bike needed to make the most of this. Tucked away cottage and very cosy - bed & sofa very comfy. Helen from London (01 April 2013)
Ideal for two able people, comfortable, cozy and great location. Ian from Llandudno (25 March 2013)
Fixtures and fittings. Surroundings. Cosyness. Comfort. Atmosphere. Tranquility Paul from Wallasey (27 January 2013)
Very cosy cottage, close to easy walking acess to the village shops and pubs. Very close to matlock bath and matlock town centre for shops and supermarkets. Nice canel walks for if you have a dog,. would stay again. Tracey from Tamworth (29 December 2012)
It's a lovely cottage in a pretty quiet area, with matlock bath a walk away. The cottage is cosy with good equipment and facilities and perfect for a weekend break. Jessicca from Heywood, Greater Manchester (16 December 2012)
The cottage was a lovely compact & well designed space, & the a owners have thought a lot about the needs of the visitor/s. I really enjoyed my stay & I will recommend to friends & family. My favourite bits about the cottage, was the log burner, the shower room was lovely. Timothy from Derby (10 December 2012)
Excellent facilities and lovely cottage to stay for a short break. Andy from Reading (23 November 2012)
Very convenient for shops & pub; lovely walks nearby Hilarie from Pinner (11 August 2012)
Lovely cottage, lovely area, try the food in a great little pub called the boat in Cromford, overall couldn’t fault anything about the place, I’d move tomorrow if I had the chance. Customer 78 (July 2012)
Little Cottage was lovely & had little extras that made it special. Customer 79 (June 2012)
