Lovely small cottage on a quiet farm. No traffic so kids could walk down lane to the ford and paddle without having to worry. Supermarket/local shops 5mins away with all you need. Lovely pub within walking distance and plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Beautiful countryside a must place to go. Becky from Kent (28 July 2017)
Our second visit to this property so we knew what to expect. Explanation for shower power switch would be a good idea as over by the window of twin bedded room, took a while to find this otherwise all ok. Gifts left for new arrivals a good and friendly touch. Well done owners Mary from West Sussex (30 June 2017)
Location was central for our requirements, ideal for walkers. Kitchen and bathrooms a bit tired but they are scheduled for renovation, maybe this will help with improving cleanliness. Thicker mattress needed on double bed. Nice big television, kitchen well stocked with utensils and crockery. Lovely and quiet location. Jones from Tyldesley, (16 June 2017)
Cottage very well located, which is why we have returned. Very cosy and peaceful. Hope it does not change. Confirmed Guest (28 April 2017)
Holy boys was a very nice accommodation and just the right size for us. its nicely furnished and lovely and warm. the garden was great for the kids to run around in and the welcome bottle of wine + was a nice touch. we had a lovely stay. Ros from Tiptree (14 April 2017)
A lovely weekend, ive recommended it already to friends and family, we met a very friendly three legged cat called douglas. Mrs Howard from Nottingham (19 March 2017)
Lovely, well equipped cottage in a rural location but an easy drive to supermarkets and places of interest. Castle acre is an interesting village with some lovely walks along the river nar and it also benefits from an excellent pub. We stayed in february so didn't benefit from the garden which will be a great place to enjoy in the summer. Two bedrooms both with en-suites are fairly rare so this cottage is ideal for a family or two couples. Highly recommended. . keith and gill. Marden kent Keith (20 February 2017)
Loved the peaceful countryside area. Perfect for our special break. Loved the fire and private garden. Played pooh sticks in the ford and the priory ruins. Weather was on our side too. Perfect for us. Hope to return . Nash from Northampton (03 December 2016)
We enjoyed our stay atholy boys cottage the owners are very nice and helpful,. the cottage was very clean and we had everything that we could possibly need. Lovely and peaceful and the garden was cosy. The gifts on arrival were a lovely touch and much appreciated. Julia from Essex (02 September 2016)
We had a wonderful & peaceful stay in this cottage. the location is ideal with just a short walk down the lane to castle acre or a quick drive to the bright lights of swaffham. Beaches are approximately 30/40 minutes drive away which we didn't find to be a problem. our two young daughters loved paddling in the river & it became a daily event in the heat during our stay. The cottage itself was comfortable & cosy with a delightful outdoor seating area. the kitchen was well equipped and our welcome gifts on arrival were a lovely touch. there was a planned power cut during the stay, but the owners made sure we were well prepared & were extremely helpful. we are already discussing our return to this cottage and recommend it wholeheartedly! Barry from St Albans (26 August 2016)
We had a lovely week in a relaxed setting. It is on a working farm and we visited in the heart of harvest season so it was noisy at times but not too much of an issue. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The short walk to castle acre made it very worthwhile as the children loved paddling in the ford and the priory and castle made a great day out for all of us. Based on previous reviews, we booked and were not disappointed. Nicola from Northamptonshire (19 August 2016)
Very nice accommodation in a very good location. Bridget from Orpington Kent (08 July 2016)
Fantastic location. welcome pack was both unexpected and appreciated. owners were very helpful yet discreet. The cottage is set within a small farmyard and our children loved the the river nar - only a five minute walk from the cottage and perhaps the best place on the planet for a game of pooh sticks! the small village of castle acre complete with motte and bailey castle and an excellent pub serving quality food, all an easy walk away. 2 nights was not enough, so we will be back. Confirmed Guest (27 March 2016)
Well located, warm and comfortable cottage. Ann from Chipstead Surrey (21 March 2016)
Cottage is wonderfully located for visiting many parts of norfolk. Well equipped and quite homely, beds in particular very comfortable and warm. Décor a little bit tatty in a few places, but I understand work on the cottages is ongoing. Thermostat on the central heating system took a while to work out ( had to enlist owner's help). welcome gift( wine and chocolates was a lovely touch). have visited before many times and certainly hope to visit again. John from Hampton (12 March 2016)
We had a fantastic and peaceful break would love to stay for christmas one year . Rob from Grays (22 November 2015)
Had a wonderfully relaxing weekend at holy boys. Exactly what we wanted, a warm, cosy cottage with fabulous hosts who left us entirely alone but were there any time if we needed them. Highly recommended ! Confirmed Guest from Suffolk (15 November 2015)
We had a lovely short break here. The cottage is comfortable and cosy set in a beautiful countryside location, yet conveniently close to good facilities. Adele from Stamford (01 November 2015)
Holy boys was comfortable and cosy. Set within walking distance of castleacre, it is the perfect location for walking the peddars way and the nar valley way. we thought it to be good value. The cottage is well equipped( also having a freezer which is not listed in the description) Elisabeth from Sunderland (16 October 2015)

A very relaxing cottage. With very helpful owners Pam from Sheffield (07 August 2015)
We had a lovely stay. The cottage was in a good location and was the perfect base for our holiday. It had everything we needed and the owners were great. We would stay here again! Matthew from Norwich (20 February 2015)
A lovely self catering experience! really appreciated the touches such as wine, flowers and the provision of basics such as washing up liquid, cooking oil etc. Some equipment such as the shower were a little ropey but didn't spoil our break in this warm, sweet cottage. Many thanks. Ellen from Lincoln (09 February 2015)
The new owners had taken over only six weeks previously. They were extremely welcoming and provided extra logs and firelighters for the wood burning stove. The kitchen was supplied with basics (salt, pepper, tea, coffee , oil and vinegar) which was appreciater. I've stayed in self-catering before where there wasn't even salt and pepper provided! there was also somewelcome chocolates. The property is spacious, warm and comfortable with a definite country cottage feel. The decor was a wee bit old-fashioned in places (but nothing horrible!) and I think the new owners were aware of this and planning to re-decorate. The location is lovely with views of the priory ruins from the bedroom window. Try and visit the castle at castle acre if you can. Easy drive to kings lynn or the coast. Claire from Maidstone (08 November 2014)
Lovely cottage in a quiet, tranquil location. Just what we wanted. Amenities just a short drive away. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Confirmed Purchaser from London (26 October 2014)
Me and my family had a lovely stay in holy boys in august 2014. Beautiful cottage and location. Everything we hoped it would be and more. Ross from Waltham Abbey (29 August 2014)
A fantastic location if you want to get away from it all Ellie (25 August 2014)
Lovely base for our holiday. Adrian from Barnstaple (15 August 2014)
We felt that the cottage needs a complete makeover and a jolly good carpet clean. Even the sheets on the beds looked past their best and were not ironed. The shower just went off while people were in the middle of bathing. The electricity went off the one night , the cottage next door wasn't affected. 2 mugs had chips. What a pity more attention isn't paid to guests comfort. When I opened the one window(with difficulty) it was stuck with dead flies!! the carpet in the bedroom with the bath is dangerous .this mattress didn't fit the bed. In that bathroom the toilet handle fell off!! it was repaired the next day. All in all a great pity as it's position is ideal. I feel the interest is purely commercial. Joan from Pitlochry (08 July 2014)
Unfortunately a few niggles but overall ok. Ray from Gillingham (21 June 2014)
A very enjoyable stay in a lovely rural location - with history on the doorstep. (castle acre). owner very helpful. Patricia from Bristol (23 May 2014)
Very friendly welcome by norman the owner. the cottage was excellent and in a very quiet and relaxing location. lovely short walk into the village, castle and priory. would definitely stay again. Paul from Lincoln (05 February 2014)
Holy boys was perfect for us - quiet location (apart from the military aircraft which my husband really enjoyed!) walks from the door, pretty villages to drive through and close enough to the coast for a decent day out without hours of driving Jane from York (26 October 2013)
Lovely home from home in a pretty location. Friendly and helpful owner. pretty lavender filled garden to relax in with a glass of wine. Would definitely return. A week wasn't long enough. Susan from Grays (10 August 2013)

Lovely cottage and surroundings. Clean and tidy. Helpful and friendly owner. Well equiped. Everything you need for a break Tina from Sutton (10 August 2012)
A good base for exploring North Norfolk, tucked away but within easy reach of shops & main routes. So much to see within an hour’s drive, we could easily have filled a second week. The cottage was well equipped and furnished; having a bathroom attached to each bedroom was great. We would certainly visit again. Customer 42 (August 2012)
Location Judy from Warwickshire (23 June 2012)
Holy Boys is in a lovely quiet location but centrally placed for visiting all parts of Norfolk. The owner is very helpful and welcoming. It’s just a 15 minute walk along a traffic free lane to Castle Acre where there is a village store and a pub. The pub in West Acre is better though. Supermarket 10 minutes drive away in Swaffham. Overall an excellent spot to spend a holiday in Norfolk. Customer 44 (August 2011)
