This property is ideally situated for exploring the local area. it is convenient for the coast and countryside. local properties worth exploring include charleston and monks house. we also visited lewes and battle. we also had in mind exhibitions at the towner (eastbourne) and de la warre pavilion in bexhill: we were really impressed. We found the cottage to be comfortable and cosy with a lovely small sitting out area which was just the right size for the two of us to relax after a day exploring. there is a grocery outlet at a garage not too far away and the local pub was friendly and did good food. it was very quiet despite being near a road and we enjoyed the birdsong in the evening. Anyone visiting should remember pevensey castle - it is close by and a treasure. if going to pevensey or battle abbey do make use of the free audio guides - they are really interesting and enhance your visit. Roger from Ipswich (27 May 2017)
Nice cottage, but in need of updating , especially the bathroom . lots of cobwebs around the place, which hadn't been cleared in a while. Garden furniture very poor. Confirmed Guest (08 April 2017)
Excellent long weekend, the host was very warm and welcoming and the cottage was perfect. I would definitely go there again and I would recommend it to anyone. A lovely cottage in a lovely location. Kally from London (06 February 2017)
We found the cottage made an excellent base for our week's stay in east sussex. the whole cottage was clean and tidy and apart from the bed being a bit hard for our liking we were very pleased with the accomodation. the kitchen was well equiped, the lounge area was very comfortable and everything worked as it should. the owner was very helpful both in terms of explaining the facilities and also advising of local amenities - pubs, shops etc. he also owned the most obedient dog (monty) we had ever met! the cottage is located on a fairly quiet 'b' road but on a bend that makes it difficult to see what is coming. in order to avoid problems, one of us usually stood in a conveniently located field gateway on the opposite side of the road to make sure it was safe, while the other drove the car out. we didn't find this an issue. in summary, we were very pleased with our stay at high house cottages and would definitely recommend it. John from Ilkeston (22 October 2016)
A very nice and well appointed cottage, all mod cons and good layout. Linda from Wokingham (09 July 2016)
Really enjoyed our week in this comfortable cottage. Owner made us feel very welcome. We became very fond of the 'guard goose'. we will definitely stay here again. Sue and steve, cheshire. Sue from Disley, Cheshire (02 July 2016)
All good with cottage but not so good for dog trying to find somewhere the dog could go for walks and toilet Reginald from Chelmsford (18 June 2016)
Excellent for what we intend to do on this holiday Ray from Minehead (04 June 2016)
A lovely little cottage in a lovely quiet setting. A little awkward to find ,directions not great. Shower a little small, as I am not too flexible and a soap shelf would really have helped my bad knees from bending down. Owner was a little "sarky" when awkwardness of directions was mentioned but overall . nice. Simon from Basildon Essex (28 May 2016)
We throughly enjoyed our selves it was very peaceful our dog loved it. . ian was very helpful . David from Chesham (14 May 2016)
This cottage is neat, tidy and comfortable and in an excellent location. We stayed in february and had issues with both the heating and hot water, but both were rectified quickly. It was clean, but there were lots of cobwebs! the owner asks for a damage deposit which isn't unreasonable, but insists on cash, which is and caused us a fair bit of inconvenience. We didn't see him when we left and so far (one week after our departure) our deposit has not been returned. We also felt all the little notes giving instructions and underlined in red ink, like a school report, were somewhat patronising; a neat welcome folder which contained everything we needed to know would have been better. That said, we had an enjoyable week and the location is peaceful and ideal for exploring the sussex coast. Janette from Sittingbourne, Kent (05 March 2016)
A nice cottage, ideal for a couple, convenient for going into eastbourne and other local attractions. The owner was very helpful, and as he lives next door is readily available for information and to answer any queries. Bryan from Upminster (28 December 2015)
A lovely cottage with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. The property was beautifully presented and the owner was very helpful with suggestions as to what to see locally. David from Aylesbury (04 December 2015)
Lovely, clean and cosy cottage.ideally situated to explore this lovely part of of our country. The coast is a short drive away and battle is a must for history enthusiasts. Gardening buffs can spend an entire day at great dixter, the gardens and house tour are a delight. After spending the day exploring and beach combing, call in at the pub a few hundred yards from the cottage. A lovely meal can be had at this hostelry with an excellent well kept pint, and they allow dogs in as well. It is a pleasure to then retreat to the cosy, quiet cottage, with a comfy bed to sleep in. Maureen from Swadlincote,Derbyshire (17 October 2015)
The original mr post it!, requires a thorough deep clean. Eric from Hampshire (05 September 2015)
In many ways this is a lovely cottage and the owner is very friendly and helpful. It is a little small for us however so we wouldn't stay again. We are also unlikely to stay in this area again as it is a long way from home for one week. The roadworks did make it difficult to get about very easily as we had to make quite long detours for some destinations. We did enjoy the peaceful rural location. Sylvia from Chorley (01 August 2015)
We really enjoyed our holiday here and will go again Margaret from Kenilworth (25 July 2015)
A bright clean barn conversion, very well eqiped. A pity the lounge television was so temperamental. the patio furniture was a bit tired and not encourage one to sit outside. The turning on to the road is a bit scary and not for a beginner. However we would stay there again. the owner was most helpful and left wine and milk in the fridge. Maggie from Cambridge (20 June 2015)
Good location for days out to east and west coastal towns and inland to battle, etc. Closest shingle beaches ten minutes away by car. Not good for local walking with a dog, as you will understand there are no footpaths on country lanes where property is based, some locals drive fast round bends!. visitors with a dog need to be aware that the back area is not blocked off and front of property can be reached by a dog and therefore the fast cars through a standard farmyard gate. The back area is attractive and quiet with large gravel stones laid down, there is a small field beyond where the owner allows exercising of a dog and politely asks for removal of your own dogs waste. A well equipped property. Cooking area and bathroom really clean. Could do with having cobwebs and dust removed from areas not daily hoovered, under furniture, etc Ellen from Nuneaton (13 June 2015)
Nice people nice cottages nice and quite good location what else can I say Customer 20 from Melton Mowbray (16 May 2015)
The cottage was clean, well equipped and well located for visiting places of interest. Lynne from Wickford (09 May 2015)
The cottage was lovely and well equipped. Had a very relaxing stay. The owner was very helpful. Julie from Woodford Green Essex (16 March 2015)
The cottage was really well equipped, very cosy, and immaculately clean. The owner was welcoming and informative and the property was securely gated from the road which was great for peace of mind with our dog. The only slight down side was that the nearest pub required a walk along a country lane with no path/verge which made it a small bit perilous at night as cars did travel fairly quickly. Good location for visits to hastings and surrounds. Would definitely recommend and would visit again. Good value. Watch out for the geese! Amelia from Watford (20 February 2015)
Nice welcome from friendly owner. Confirmed Guest (13 February 2015)
Lovely cottage. Nice countryside location. Clean & well equipped. Comfortable. Nikki from Norwich (04 October 2014)
A very well equipped cottage with a plenty of privacy and quiet. the owners were also very friendly and helpful. Iain from Angus (06 September 2014)
We could not fault the cottage, everything we wanted. Friendly owner showed us round on arrival. Being ex sussex people it was a gem to find, could visit everywhere we wanted and came back at night to a place like home. There was nighting gales singing most nights in the trees behind the cottage. Did not need tv,radio computers etc. Bliss!!! Sally from Lake, Isle Of Wight (28 June 2014)
A warm welcome from the owner upon arrival - with complimentary milk and wine a nice touch. The cottage was spotless and well equipped - only the lack of a tumble dryer made it's absence felt as the week progressed. The shared garden and orchard were very quiet and peaceful - it's a very bucolic rural spot. We found the mattress a little tired. The cottage is on a rather windy rural road - exiting was something done carefully as a corner was very close by - a mirror in the hedge opposite might aid this. Jon from St Leonards On Sea (05 October 2013)
Well equipped with helpful owner convenient for many historical locations David from Godalming (31 August 2013)
Great cottage, pefect for couple and dog. Tranquil surroundings enhanced by outlook onto small orchard / field - perfect for "walkies" in mornings/evenings. Owner very friendly and full of local information which enhanced our appreciation of area - ably assisted by his collie. Roger from Edinburgh (13 Jul 2013)
Received a warm welcome from the owner and his dog. the cottage is located in an ideal place, within easy reach of many nice places, battle, seven sisters country park, beachy head, rye etc. wish we could have stayed longer, and would definitely recommend to our family and friends. would hope very much to return again some time to see this wonderful part of the country. Alison from Manchester (06 April 2013)
Very comfortable. Lovely field in which to walk your dog. Friendly owner. Welcomed with flowers, wine, milk etc. Sandra from Leigh-On-Sea, Essex (23 February 2013)

Well maintained and good host. Nice welcoming basket. Martin (23 June 2012)
We found the property to be immaculately clean, well furnished and well equipped. It was well placed as a base for touring the area. Ian (the owner) was very friendly and helpful to us. We would certainly recommend it to our friends and would stay there again if we were visiting the area. Customer 36 (May 2012)
I’ve hired several self-catering cottages over the past 20 years or so, but never one as well-appointed and carefully maintained as this one. It’s first-class, and Ian is an excellent landlord. Customer 37 (April 2012)
This property finished to a high standard. There is nothing we needed that wasn’t provided. Have been on a few cottage holidays - this is best cottage so far. Customer 38 (October 2011)
I highly reccommend this property and you will get a warm welcome from the owner. Milk, a bottle of wine was left in the fridge, which we thought was a nice touch. The cottage was layed out nice. It is 5 miles from eastbourne. Customer 39 (September 2011)
We had a very relaxing week. Location is good for day trips to a wide variety of local attractions and amenities if you have your own transport. Customer 40 (August 2011)
