No great problem with the cottage itself, however, there are no local amenities e.g. Shop and the "road " to the cottage is really a narrow drive shared with at least 2 other properties. Part of the drive width is taken up with a wooden shed which has a copper tube going along it's outside length and extending past the front and back. Trying to reverse the car into the drive to park (the only way to without a lot of shunting and and steering backwards and forwards ) is a pain and one evening I broke my back reflector on the extended part of the copper pipe trying to get in. So a shame really- lovely cottage and beautiful county but the parking issue was a bit too much for me. Roger from Fareham (20 May 2017)
Beautifully appointed, comfortable and stylish cottage. The hosts left us a bottle of wine and a delicious home-made cake, and made sure the kitchen was left stocked with self-catering staples such as salt, wine, oil, sugar and teabags. Would stay again for sure. Marina from London (13 April 2017)
Great location for cycling. The village bus service poorly publicised. Close to holt - many things to do Neil from Morpeth (29 October 2016)
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage. The only drawback is there is parking for one small car only. Lloyd from Melton Mowbray (22 October 2016)
Cottage was nice the only thing that spoilt it was only enough parking for 1 car, one had to be left out on skinny dark road outside somebody else's property absolutely no parking anywhere in the vicinity, also best to reverse in but right on a bend so a bit awkward. Can't think what it was like when all three cottages were occupied. That was only reason would not go back to that particular cottage. No phone signal at all have to go for a walk to get one somewhere. Laraine from Essex (15 October 2016)
We had a wonderful stay, the cottage is so well equipped and we had lovely welcoming gifts, we will definitely book to stay there again Jenny from Warrington (12 September 2016)
We had a lovely week although occasionally road traffic and aircraft noise very intense but most of time using the lovely little courtyard garden was great. furniture and beds were very comfortable and the kitchen facilities extensive. Car parking could be a problem as access is a little restricted for larger cars and it would be irresponsible to reverse into the road which is blind conered at foundry row. The cottage would benefit from additional railing on the steep stairs and perhaps roller blinds in the kitchen and landing. atten tion is needed to a loud air lock in cold water system. the bathroom was excellent with a fine new power shower. Although the village itself is without amenties holt is very close as is sheringham and cromer. the general area is very attractive with mixed and coniferous woodlands and some lovely hilly country and levels displaying famed norfolk skies. Peter from Chelmsford (10 September 2016)
Great little house located in a lovely little village, very well featured given the size of property. . . nothing much in the village itself but very close to holt which has everything you need. Tom from Tonbridge (03 September 2016)
We loved staying at foundry cottage, it was close to family members, and so well equipped that we were able to entertain there. great location to visit blakeney quay, holkham beach, sheringham and cromer. wonderful little home from home. highly recommend this cottage. Julie from Shepton Mallet (27 August 2016)
We had a nice week and enjoyed the cottage, but the main problem was the lack of car parking space. Had we taken our other vehicle we would have had major problems with the parking which was not clear at the time of booking. Carolyn from Wallingford (20 August 2016)
We had a lovely week in this cottage. it was a great base to access the places we wanted to visit and also a lovely cosy cottage and garden to return to at the end of the day. We went in the summer but imagine that the aga and woodburner would be lovely in the winter. the cottage was well equipped and welcoming. Lyn from Eastbourne (13 August 2016)
The cottage is off the beaten track away from all the noise of busy road and people. it is situated with good access to nearby towns for days out and shops. due to its very rural location mobile signal is almost nil, so make sure you have a voip app on your phone ready to go when you get there. the cottage does have wi-fi if you can find the router though, so you won't be totally cut off. theres space to park right outside the front door, although this could be a bit tight if you drive an estate. if you're on the above 5 foot tall side, watch your head when you go upstairs.. and if you're 6 foot or above, you'll be bending down in the shower. You'll find everything you need to spend a week or so there, storage is sufficient for a week or so's clothes, but the washing machine makes this less of an issue. If you manage to get there during decent weather (as if, this is england), you can even have a meal outside, or even a bbq. David from Bolton (30 July 2016)
Lovely rural retreat with everything you could wish for provided. Extremely cosy, lovely and clean, and a warm welcome thanks to flowers, milk and wine. Wi fi was a bonus and the tiny cottage courtyard was a delight to sit in for breakfast and afternoon tea. Would love to go back and probably will. John from West Hallam, Derbyshire (04 June 2016)
Excellent stay, many thanks. Cottage lovely and warm and well equipped even in february. Good location, lots to see and do, children enjoyed it too. Wifi got a special mention! Jo from Rossendale (20 February 2016)
Although the cottage was small it was perfectly adequate for the two of us, plus dog. Well equipped and comfortable throughout. Very good value for money. A few minor niggles that could easily be resolved. - the small garden could be made far more attractive. Not really an issue for us as we didn't need to make use of it in october, but for summer visitors having a nicer place to sit outside would be important. - the ceiling light in the lounge had to be avoided as it was very low. - the picture on the television was prone to breaking up on a few occasions. Not sure if this was due to local reception conditions or the tv itself. - locating the cottage was difficult. We managed to find a helpful man who assisted us. John from Peterborough (05 October 2015)
A quaint cottage in a rural location which was not that easy to find from instructions given. the lounge was comfortable and cosy with a nice dining area. the beds were comfortable with lovely clean and fresh bedding. a nice modern kitchen which was well equipped. in general a nice clean cottage but think it needs a good spring clean especially under the furniture plus the courtyard garden needed some tlc. parking was fine for one car only. best to turn round outside cottage as reversing back onto the road would be hazardous as buses speed along the road on a rather blind corner. good to have wi-fi. Carolyn from Ramsey (26 September 2015)
Foundry cottage is cosy, comfortable and situated in a very interesting area of natural beauty. Wi-fi is a definite plus. Jacob from Vlaardingen, The Netherlands (09 May 2015)
Overall holiday was good - cottages 4 u not so Lindsey from Turvey (21 February 2015)
Perfect cottage for the two of us to enjoy a few days relaxation in beautiful north norfolk. We loved the coal burning stove, it gave us some really cosy evenings. Den from Shepshed, Leicestershire (23 October 2014)
Wonderful little cottage, nice and warm, lovely flowers. And wine when we arrived. lots of good kitchen equipment. Thank you Brenda from Moulezan France (13 October 2014)
Great little cottage perfect for a couple with a dog. Only thing I would say needs improving is the house book needs updating as there is no information about recycling or the buns going out. All in all we had a great break away David from Ramsay (10 October 2014)
The cottage was excellant fully equiped and ver clean and comfortable, the reason we would not return was the lack of parking enough only for one car with a great deal of manoeuvring we had two. This was not explained in the cottages description. Margaret from Cambridge (27 September 2014)
No real problems with the cottage, a bit awkward to park the car due to next doors gate, I am quite tall and found the height of ceilings and stairwell difficult but the other members of the party had no complaints. Anthony from Bolton (09 August 2014)
Fantastic cottage just instructions were not good to find it Mark from Cambridge (18 July 2014)
We found this cottage attractive, comfortable and well-equipped. A good base for exploring both coast and countryside. its a little difficult to find and parking would be tricky for a large car but overall its certainly well worth it. Keith from London (10 May 2014)
Highly recommended, but could be improved by internet provision. Cottage location should be identified as not clear to find from the main road. Madeleine from Stafford (05 April 2014)
Lovely, comfortable cottage, very well equipped and clean. Car definitely needed as village has no pub or shop. Ann from London (29 March 2014)
Only one issue. Thye cottage was difficult to find, Nick (20 January 2014)
We had a lovely time in this little cottage. the beds in the second bedroom were clearly designed for children and people who book these cottages are not always a couple. the beds were basic and the duvets too small. we were, however, very happy with everything else and would certainly go back. Cheryl from Cambridge (28 December 2013)
Beautiful clean cottage, loads of extras like bread maker and picnic set. Would visit again as great location and lovely surrounding area. . couple of things that could improve, proper shower rather than over the bath type. Very steep stairs which could have been included in the property details. . tumble drier didn't work and we had a lightbulb explode just missing one of the children! Lisa from Crewe (26 October 2013)
We stayed at the foundry cottage as a last minute break from the stresses of work. The cottage was a home from home, well equipped and comfortable. The location is ideal for trips to the coast including wells and blakeney. There is also a local forest on the outskirts of holt ideal for walking the dog. We would recommend this cottage to others. Paul from Bedford (12 October 2013)
Have been back 3 times. Very cosy cottage and perfect location for walking the coastal path and visiting national trust properties. Stephanie from Essex (28 September 2013)
Really cosy . Kim from March (24 Jun 2013)
Open fire and arga great,> plus lots of fuel in the cold weather much appreciated. Customer 34 from Essex (13 April 2013)
So many good points, secure garden for the dog, extremely well equipped kitchen, very warm and cosy, good size bedrooms. Emma from Hertfordshire (01 April 2013)
Almost everything! Clare from Ipswich (04 March 2013)
On arrival flowers, wine and milk a nice gesture. Very well equipped kitchen. Nice village, quiet. Emma from Ampthill (03 September 2012)
Small, quirky cottage, well equipped with even a bread-maker and wicker picnic basket. Customer 38 (April 2012)
Very comfortable and cosy in a quiet location. Customer 39 (March 2012)
Lovely area with great beaches. Quiet country roads. Well appointed cottage with character and charm. Customer 40 (May 2011)
Small but perfectly furnished. Ideal base for exploring North Norfolk. Customer 41 (May 2011)
The property was clean and had everything we would need. It was very well stocked with plenty of plates etc, nothing was missing. Customer 42 (December 2010)
Delightful cottages wil all modern amenities, perfect for couples or familes with small children. Customer 43 (September 2010)
Clean, tidy well equipped & comfortable. Customer 44 (June 2010)
A well equipped and clean cottage - very comfortable and quaint. Customer 45 (May 2010)
Very clean and a very well equipped kitchen. A lot of information available in the cottage for things to do over the week in the Norfolk area. Customer 46 (May 2010)
Peaceful location, well placed to visit the area, good standard of cleanliness and well equipped. Parking is very limited and the driveway is confined making it a bit of a challenge to drive in/out and park. Not suitable for more than one small car. Customer 47 (April 2010)
This is a very well-equipped cottage and nothing seems to have been left out. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was a little cold if you didn’t wish to use the Rayburn and the stairs were very tight and steep. Otherwise great. Customer 48 (April 2010)
Small but cozy. The Rayburn meant that the house was warm when returning from a cold February day out walking. The kitchen was very well equipped. Customer 49 (February 2010)
Lovely, bright and airy little cottage. Customer 50 (February 2010)
Only real problem was with heating. We arrived in middle of very cold spell of weather. There was no heating on and the cottage was freezing. We could not light the coal fire heater in the kitchen. There were oil fired radiators which did warm the place up. Would probably be at it’s best in the summer. Parking space also quite small and tricky to manouvre into if neighbours are there. Customer 51 (January 2010)
Exactly as looked and described on website. Very clean which is important. Well equipped but without being cluttered. Little personal touches which made it seem homely rather than just a holiday let. Wine and flowers on arrival - very nice. Also good that fuel was provided for the open fire. Customer 52 (November 2009)
Cottage was very homely and comfortable. It was well equipped with everything we needed. If I were to criticise anything it would be lack of photo of front of house to indicate very small parking space. We will return to cottage at some point as it was excellent. Customer 53 (October 2009)
Atmosphere very cosy. Customer 54 (October 2009)
A cosy cottage in a great location for exploring this part of the world. Although when we arrived, there was no fuel for the Rayburn this was rectified immediately by the caretaker, who could not have been more helpful. Great service! Customer 55 (November 2008)
Foundry cottage provided us with very comfortable, clean accommodation. It is very well equipped and situated close to many local areas of interest. Customer 56 (April 2008)
Foundry Cottage is a well equipped, very homely cottage which is well situated for all that North Norfolk has to offer. Customer 57 (May 2007)
Raeburn instructions somewhat unclear about kindling for lighting. Proper fuel ie not phurnacite was not provided for the open fire. Feel bookers should be warned about the steepness of the stairs. Customer 58 (December 2006)
