Had an amazing week. Fantastic house in great location, views to die for. Well appointed and spacious house. Had a few problems getting hot water to top floor bathrooms. Well documented instructions so sorted it out quickly. Cinema room was a great addition however smelt a bit stale. Beautiful beaches both surfing and sandy dunes to suit all our party. . tarka trail a few minutes stroll away, great for walks , bikes and cream tea on a train at the station. . something for all the family . would defiantly come again. House very clean inside however outside area could have been swept, as had a toddler and had to sweep before he was allowed to play on the patio. I think it was ash from the bbq,!. very personal service, the lady who owns the property rang a few days before our departure with useful info and wished us a wonderful stay. Helen from Horsham West Sussex (14 July 2017)
We were a family party of 10 adults and the house was fantastic for our holiday needs. There was plenty of room for everyone to relax both inside and out. The weather was fantastic so we spent a lot of time sat on the patio and using the hot tub & pool & enjoying the fantastic view. We ate in most nights and the kitchen facilities and equipment were excellent. The cinema room was brilliant although we only used it a few times mainly for watching sport on the tv & we also got lots of use out of the excellent sound system in the kitchen / dining / lounge area. . all the bedrooms were very spacious, plenty of rooms for clothes and all the bathrooms / en-suites were well equipped, loved the tv's in the bathrooms. Andrew from Rochdale (23 June 2017)
Copperfield is a lovely well equipped house bedrooms and bathrooms fantastic pool and hot tub cleaned prior to our arrival beautiful view only criticism large fridge wasn't working it was fixed next day and cinema room badly in need of a freshen up obviously been well used by previous guests Elaine from Dudley (12 June 2017)
The property is kitted out to an exceptional high standard. . . kitchen, has everything in duplicate or more and is all excellent quality. . games/cinema room, has all modern gadgets that cater for all ages. . bedrooms, excellent beds and all bar one are extremely spacious. . living room, spacious with comfortable seating. . patio, plenty of seating with fantastic vistas of the torridge and bideford. . this is the best property that we have had a family holiday in. . the owners are extremely diligent in their efforts to maximise the comfort and enjoyment of all who stay in copperfield. Karen from Liverpool (09 June 2017)
We had such a wonderful time at the copperfield. The best equipped house we have ever stayed in. Beautiful garden and views and socialable layout. Really could not fault it in the least. Thanks for a great time away. Kelle from Bristol (15 May 2017)
A great house with commanding views. Roomy and very well equiped. Many things to see and do around bideford. Rob from De Kwakel, The Netherlands (28 April 2017)
We were a family party of 14 celebrating my fathers 80th birthday. Everything about copperfield was perfect. Beautiful views, cleanliness, comfortable beds, hot tub, spacious rooms, the list is endless. We held a fancy dress murder mystery night on the saturday evening and the kitchen/lounge area was perfect. The cinema room was well used by all the family. I could not recommend this house enough and would most definitely return. Thank you copperfield for providing the perfect location for our celebratory weekend. Lynn from Stourbridge (27 March 2017)
Our 3rd visit to copperfields, this time to celebrate our golden wedding. As before, a beautifully equipped and gorgeously warm house with a lovely " atmosphere .it suited all ages, the teenagers loved the media room and the hot tub (even though the air temperature was only 9 deg.!) the hot tub was hot! us "oldies" loved the comfy beds and the beautiful views across the river, and even though the weather was truly awful it didn't stop us walking to instow along the tarka trail, very bracing! we'll be back! Jillian from Bristol (20 March 2017)
A deceptively large house that is perfect to accommodate a multi generational holiday. very good facilities for both young children and the older generation. the beds are very comfy and the rooms are well specked with t.v's, feather duvets and pillows, dvd players, sky and generous sized bathrooms. the hot tub is is an added bonus and the pool would be well used in the summer months. the owner and caretaker are both very approachable and I would definitely recommend a stay at the copperfield house. we plan to return again next year. Rachel from Somerset (13 March 2017)
We had a lovely weekend in a beautiful house. Everything you needed to cater for a big group. Lots of seating and plenty of space! . thankyou x Laura from Somerset (30 January 2017)
Think there needs to be a small shower outside as when you leave pool/hot tub you smell of chlorine and walk through the house. Also a hook by the inside showers for your towel. Tony from Wallington (07 October 2016)
Great house all you could ever need. Wonderfully spacious and perfectly place to explore Gary from Westcliff On Sea (23 September 2016)
Amazing house, had everything you could possibly want. Hot tub swimming pool, games room. We were a party of all ages and the house suited everyone of us. I would highly recommend this house. Maria from Bedfordshire (16 September 2016)
The property is well presented and the facilities available were extremely good. Although we were made aware of the problem with the boilers it was a nuisance that we had to re-pressurise the system 3 times. . the setting was very idyllic and the views were good. A very enjoyable time. Kenneth from Romsey (02 September 2016)
Spent an amazing week here with our family to celebrate our golden wedding. . all age groups were catered for, from the media room for the males in the party,to the hot tub for the ladies. Could not find any faults with this lovely house and would highly recommend it. Angela from Woodnewton Peterborough (29 July 2016)
We were extremely pleased with the house, facilities in the house and the garden. Hot tub was a great success. the only downside was he situation of the house, especially in that we couldn't just walk along to a restaurant in the evening or walk to a local shop. definitely needed the use of our cars. Sheila from Didsbury, Manchester (17 June 2016)
Comfortable accommodation which met expectations. Pool, hot tub and cinema room were all well used during our visit with lots to do in the surrounding area. We had great weather so we were able to sit on the patio in the evening overlooking the river. It did take the older members of the party a bit of time to work out all the technology but there were plenty of instructions left. Altogether a memorable holiday. Helen from Bristol (10 June 2016)
We all had an amazing time at copperfield, everything you could possibly need is provided. The bedding, towels etc were all lovely and clean with a lovely fresh smell. . . the house is wonderful we could have all stayed longer I have no criticism at all. . we will be recommending to all of our friends and family. . it was really easy to book and everything was ready for our arrival. . many thanks to all concerned for making my 50th birthday so memorable Joanne from Warwickshire (02 May 2016)
Went here as a large family group to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary over easter. the house is really spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. It had something to suit everyone. Quiet corners to curl up with a book, walks from the doorstep and our three teenage girls hardly left the cinema room. There are plenty of takeaways and restaurants within ten minutes walk but the kitchen is very well equipped. I had brought all my baking equipment to make a cake but it was already there (except a mixer). the location is on a steep hill so not easy if you have mobility problems but it means the views are fantastic. Really helpful guide to the house provided and the owner was very friendly and helpful. We would all love to stay again one day. Andrea from Telford (01 April 2016)
8 adults and 6 children stayed in copperfield for a cold week in february. The house was beautiful, warm and very comfortable. The house has a lovely feel resulting in immediately feeling at home. The media room was a great favourite with the kids (and adults) and was fantastic to watch films and the rugby on the cinema screen. The house is well equipped with some fantastic touches. It sits prominently on the side of a hill, overlooking the river and bideford. The town is very pretty at night with all its lights, especially when viewed from the hot tub.. all but one of the bedrooms were of a good size and very comfortable. If there was a fault it was the lack of the option of a television in the living room. Whilst it was nice to sit by the open fire and chat, it did mean that if the kids had taken over in the media room, there was nowhere comfortable to watch tv as a group. We certainly enjoyed our time at copperfield and would seriously consider returning at some point in the future. Paul from Sutton (19 February 2016)
Beautifully decorated and furnished without prevention. Every possible piece of equipment, including whisks and dog bowls. The hot tub was such a hit with the grand children that they didn't want to leave the house and stayed in it through driving wind, rain and early evening. Very relaxing for the adults. Sandy from Poole (07 December 2015)
A luxurious house where everything has been carefully thought of.even down to the lovely towels. A fabulous well equipped kitchen with more than enough utensils plates dishes and glasses. The cinema room was hard to leave. The beds are gorgeous and bathrooms are omg. Can't wait to go back Teresa from Bristol (23 November 2015)
Very enjoyable holiday, catered for all our parties needs Rosemary from Worcestershire (25 September 2015)
Very good property in a great location but the small double room is not really very good as a double room (tv made it difficult to pass by the bed): would be better suited as a single. Also had problem with hot water which was never really solved. Also waste disposal in sink did not work so sink tended to block and dish washer overflow. Duncan from Ilkley (18 September 2015)
Stayed in copperfield 5th june with family to celebraite 55 years married and hubbys 80 th birthday `had the best time ever copperfield is fantastic .the views to biddiford at night are magical . was sorry when our week was upand so said all of us. Ann from Midlothian (12 June 2015)
We thought the house was fantastic and so very comfortable and luxurious. The boys just loved the cinema room and the girls thought the jacuzzi was great. The babies looked very comfortable in their matching high chairs. the bathrooms were beautiful, especially the one with the jacuzzi and the television at the end. The house was very well equipped and very bright and sunny. A great place for a family gathering - the only thing missing was a box of scrabble! Rice from Shipston On Stour (29 May 2015)
Amazing house. A bit more expensive than we would normally pay, but the pool, cinema room, numerous tv's and docking stations, dvd library and stunning view were worth it! the kids were kept fully occupied which is a massive help on wet days. Spacious and luxurious with plenty of bathrooms. Thanks. Neil from Southampton (01 November 2014)
Wonderful place to stay. Fantastic priceless views in the lap of luxury. Heidi from Bolton (03 October 2014)
We got home and immediately looked for another excuse to go back to copperfield. . . the house is well appointed and is perfect for a large family or group; there are a number of areas to breakout into with an entertainment arsenal that would keep anyone occupied. . the furniture and furnishings are comfortable and high quality; the kitchen is well appointed. We found ourselves walking around the rooms and repeatedly saying "wow" at various features whether that a roll top, stand alone bath or the view from a window. . highly recommended. They have genuinely thought of everything! Mark from Putney, London (22 September 2014)
This house is absolutely fantastic! we the most perfect holiday. There were 12 of us staying here and it was perfect for us. There is every possible convenience we had great weather and therefore a perfect view over the estuary. The location is great as it is near to many places to visit and if you like walking the tarka trail is very close. The bedrooms are extremely well appointed and the kitchen has everything you could need. The whole holiday was brilliant and this place was the center of that enjoyment. We will definitely be back Peter from Welwyn Garden City (12 September 2014)
A fantastic house! the beds were incredibly comfortable, the house was gorgeous and it was very difficult to get us out of the pool and hot tub..unless bribed with the cinema room. Lovely cycle/run route the tarka trail literally just below the house. A brilliant week that went far too fast! Sarah from Tonbridge (05 September 2014)
Lovely telephone call welcome from owner. . excellent accommodation, tasteful decor but not too 'precious' with toddlers about. . great to have two ovens, two dishwashers & two washing machine tumble driers, all in constant use! . . fabulous view from property, night & day. . shops/supermarket within easy walking distance. . plenty to do locally - surfing, fishing, cycling, as well as hot tub & heated swimming pool at property Confirmed Purchaser (29 August 2014)
Great house second time we have rented it. Only downside a complaining niebour we where there as a family with six grandchildren aged 4 mths to 10 yrs. On both occasions we had a niebour complaining that our children where noisy. It was only 8.30 pm and they where in the pool. They where laughing and having a good time and where all in bed by 10pm. This took some of the pleasure of our say away. David from Shrewsbury (08 August 2014)
"copperfield" is the best holiday house we have used as a family of 12 or so over the past 9 years of family holidays. it is a superbly appointed home in a very convenient location with beautiful views. the media room hot tub and swimming pool all combine to make "copperfield" simply excellent. please don't tell anyone else about about the house until we've re-booked!! Richard from Bromsgrove (01 August 2014)
Copperfield is a lovely house with stunning views over bideford. The bedrooms are all roomy with lovely bathrooms and the kitchen/living room area is superb with huge bay windows making it light and airy.the nearby resorts of instow, appledore & westward ho are well worth a visit and lots of excellent restaurants nearby. Diane from London (14 July 2014)
A group of 12 adult stayed here for a 30th birthday celebration. we all had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the sunset from the balcony with the chimonier going and bats! there was plenty of space for everyone, at no point did anyone feel as if they were crowded or couldn't have their own space with out being confined to their room. This is really important to me as I need a little time each day just to sit quietly and read a book or listen to music. . the location was great, there are so many local walks and activities to keep you entertained. we could have easily stayed a week rather than just a long weekend. the cinema room was great and again plenty of room for everyone to snuggle into. We would all highly recommend copperfield for gatherings. :) Elizabeth from Coventry (16 June 2014)
We all had a fantastic time, there is so much to see and do in the area. And the view from the house is a delight. The accommodation was perfect for 12 to 14 people, of any age mix. The cinema room was fantastic for the younger ones as well as for us adults. The whole house being very well appointed in every way, with both a hot tub and pool. Thank you. Marcus from Smarden, Kent (30 May 2014)
We were a party of 4 families & the house was perfect for our requirement. There's everything you require in the house & the setting is lovely. Both adults & children had a great time. Would recommend. Peter from Hook (21 April 2014)
It is difficult to envisage better accommodation for a large group. Bideford is an attractive town and ideally located for coastal walks and for the western edge of exmoor. The property has an excellent outlook, has been refurbished to the highest standards, is well equipped and provides luxurious accommodation. Highly recommended. Paul from Much Wenlock (14 March 2014)
We love bideford and all its local beaches. Copperfield was everything I hoped for and more, Angela from Melksham (21 February 2014)
We rented this property for our annual get together and without a doubt this is the best property we have found in the years we have been doing this. it is spacious and light with a large kitchen dining area with a table that comfortably fitted the 13 of us. there is plenty of places to lounge around and relax including the cinema/tv room with its projector, sky tv, dvd player and games machines, there is a large selection of dvds and games available. . the views from the house over bideford are great even during a cold november weekend and it is a short walk down to the town. . . the house book contains all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. . the drive comfortably held our 6 cars easily. . all in all a fantastic weekend in a fantastic property. Pete from Crediton (18 November 2013)
Thought that the property and location were fabulous, had a grreat time in the hottub, even though it was blowing gale. We are looking to book again, just searching for an excuse for another celebration. Sarah from South Croydon (04 November 2013)
What a great house. The pool and the hot tub were great. Did not think I would use the cinema but spent the sunday chilling out watching a film. Would recommend it but not for people who struggle with hills down to the town. Jon from Staffordshire (30 September 2013)
Lovely large house with good attention to detail, great for our large family holiday. Jo from Bridport (27 September 2013)
Fantastic house, would definately recommend it Caroline from Wokingham (20 September 2013)
As a party of 6 senior couples, we found the property to be ideal in every way. The rooms, equipment, facilities and location were just perfect and we all had great fun in the pool, hot tub and cinema room. Copperfield was voted the best holiday property we have ever booked and some of us are contemplating family holidays at copperfield next year. Paul from Attleborough, Norfolk (13 September 2013)
We had a week with our extended family at this excellent and spacious house. everything was up to or exceeding expectations. the house was extremely well equipped (we never got round to using most of the technology). the swimming pool was welll used; as was the cinema room. . the local beach at westwood ho! was also ideal. (good weather for the week helped). cycling on the tarka trail (just below the house) was also a highlight. Ian from Ilkley (06 September 2013)
Excellent. Confirmed Purchaser (23 August 2013)
Great house for all the family. Made good use of the cinema room, the pool and hot tub. Well equipped and beautifully furnished - only thing I can think of that we would have liked was a table tennis table as we are all keen on that. We had a really good holiday. Annette from Southport (02 August 2013)
Fabulous house with everything you need to entertain both adults and children for a superb holiday! amazing space and layout. Lisa from Warwick (26 Jul 2013)
The entire house is amazing. room sizes, amenities, fantastic views all play a part in making your stay at copperfield truly wonderful. I also liaised with the owners who gave me all the information we required. I loved the fact we went for christmas and arrived to have a real christmas tree put up and decorated! very cosy, relaxing and waming house. Debbie from South Croydon (27 December 2012)

A spectacular house in a spectacular location, with spectacular equipment and facilities. we have stayed in many rented cottages across devon and this beats them all hands down. the only downside was that we didn't make our holiday long enough to fully enjoy copperfield! Tim from Kingston Upon Thames (08 October 2012)
The property is very convenient for the Tarka Bike trail and for the surf beach of Westward Ho. The property features a comprehensive Hi-tech cinema room and the hot tub was great to relax in after a day full of activity. Customer 55 (October 2012)
Great dining and relaxing space. High tech cinema room with lots of dvds and games provided. Spacious bedrooms with very comfortable beds! pool and hot tub. Very generously equipped. Lovely views over bideford. A truly wonderful place to stay. Shirley from Barnstaple (24 September 2012)

Very helpful owner. Excellent facilities. Very well decorated and presented. Close to tarka trail. Good supermarkets nearby. Pennie from Hassocks (31 August 2012)
This is a magnificent house; spacious, airy, elegant, generously appointed and brimful of electronic delights. A real treat. Had we not enjoyed fab September weather which drew us to the splendid local beaches, we’d have happily spent the entire week at Copperfield, reading in the comfortable drawing room and enjoying the cinema room, heated pool and hot tub! Really, it could not have been more delightful. Customer 59 (August 2012)
We were a party of 3 generations celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary. The house met with all our needs which is quite something when our ages ranged between 3 and 72, also the weather was poor. The children loved the small pool and we all had a huge amount of fun in the hot tub. The cinema was a novel experience and kept most of the party amused for hours. It was quite beyond my IT skills so I enjoyed the comfort of the sitting room and the joy of finishing off a bottle or two of wine. Customer 60 (June 2012)
Facilities are brilliant Clive from Horsham (01 June 2012)
This property is amazing. It has wonderful views over the river into Bideford town which is a ten minute walk away. Two minutes away is the Tarka trail which is lovely for walking and cycling. The house has everything you are ever likely to need in a holiday cottage. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. The cinema room was a fantastic facility when the weather forced us in from the pool and hot tub. We had four generations sharing the house and it was great to be able to comfortably get them all round the dining areas. Customer 62 (May 2012)
Copperfield is a beautiful house with bags of space for 3 families to share. Everything had been thought of by the owners. We had 6 teenagers with us who loved the cinema room! Our only disappointment was with Bideford itself which is rather run down and lacks many decent restaurants. However, the surrounding villages and countryside are lovely. Customer 63 (April 2012)
Excellence property for large parties , lovely old plan downstairs area with huge kitchen, dining room and lounge. The boys were Particularly excited about the cinema room. Easy access to a lot of sites in the north Devon coast line. Very high end decoration to the house. Customer 64 (February 2012)
My family and I rented this beautiful house 5 nights for our Christmas break and the property completely exceeded all of our expectations... it has everything you could possibly want. It is beautifully decorated, clean and spacious with beautiful views of the town and river. The area is lovely, right near the town and the Tarka Trail for nice walks and bicycle rides with a few good local pubs very nearby. My family and i had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend the area and property. Customer 65 (December 2011)
I chose Copperfield as the venue to celebrate my 40th birthday with friends & it was absolutely ideal. The property is finished off very well, with bedrooms well appointed & the bathrooms of an excellent standard. There was plenty of room for my group (of 13) to move around freely & not feel claustrophobic at all. The living area is fantastic & again ideal for group meals & social interaction. I arranged a catered meal for the Saturday night, which the dining area lent itself to perfectly. (The caterers chosen are local to Bideford & I would certainly recommend them - Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner). The living / dining area is what really makes the property if you have a group that really wants to interact & is social. The hot tub is even in a good position for interaction with those who want to stay in/around the living area & not join others in the tub. Also the large bay windows overlooking the town work well to trap the late afternoon sun (our stay was early October). Finally, this is a completely independent review & reflects the true experience of my group’s stay. I am not connected with the Copperfield property, its owners, the property managers or your company in any way. I’m just an ordinary punter that had a great weekend, thanks partly to the property! Customer 66 (October 2011)

We couldn’t have wished for a better venue to celebrate our firends 40th birthday. We went with 6 other couples and the house was so spacious we didn’t feel on top of one another. The house was very well equipped and all the rooms were furnished to a very high standard. The owner was very helpful prior to our visit in making the handover arrangements. Customer 68 (September 2011)
This is a fabulous property, very spacious and comfortable and beautifully decorated and equipped. Only a 5 min walk into town and such views - we have a lovely time. Its a property we’d definitely hire out again. Customer 69 (September 2011)
Copperfield was a lovely house and decorated well. There was plenty of room with so many of us, 15 + 1 dog. Everyone loved the hot tub and the children enjoyed the pool. The outside seating was ample for everyone and we did not feel ’on top’ of each other. The kitchen was very well equipped and in particular I was impressed with the Quooker!!!! All in all a fantastic house and I would consider staying again if the opportunity arose. Customer 70 (August 2011)
For a family or friends holiday, you could not find a better house. My grandchildren, 25 years old, thought the electronic beds were fab and comfortable. Kitchen to die for and plenty to do if it rains. Very highly recommended. Customer 71 (June 2011)
We had an absolutely fantastic time - all 15 of us together, age range 72 - 10 months and everyone happy. The gizmos are fantastic and the pool and hot tub excellent fun. Customer 72 (May 2011)
Copperfield was really lovely, it exceeded our expectations completely. Very well equipped kitchen, lovely dining/living space with high ceilings and classy fittings. The house is cosy and luxurious with lovely bedrooms, bathrooms and overall fine decor throughout. The games room is a real treat for a rainy day and the house enjoys a brilliant view over the river. Really enjoyed our stay, thanks very much. Customer 73 (May 2011)
Excellent luxurious property that is adult and family friendly. I recommend this property for large groups or families that like their space and home comforts. Customer 74 (April 2011)
This is an outstanding accommodation- everything has been thought through and no detail missed. We enjoyed the gorgeous view across the estuary, the roll top baths, the underfloor heating, the hot tub, the media room and the very comfortable beds. I couldn’t think of any way to improve our experience, apart from picking up the property and putting it on the edge of a beach! Customer 75 (March 2011)
A lovely refurbished holiday home, ample space for large parties with white goods and crockery to match. Bed and bathroom’s again excellent. The large living space with window seats and views was great, and the cooking island allowed all to share and mix. A wonderful holiday enjoyed by all in our group, the young adults especially liked the cinema/tv/games room and hot tub. Overlooking the river into the town of Bideford this accommodation is a good base for visiting the area. With the Tarka Trail a few minutes away, cycling and walking are a must we saw a variety of bird wildlife along the estuary. A trip to Woolacombe Beach and Saunton Sands out of season is great for letting the dogs run, but can be on the busy side. Locally takeaways were good but be prepared for a wait or collect. A selection of supermarkets in an around the area all within the few minutes drive and a very large Tesco in Barnstaple. Go visit this place and enjoy. Customer 76 (March 2011)
Copperfield is a beautiful house with every facility you could require, from open fire, cinema screen, game consoles and a hot tub. It is decorated to a very high standard which makes the house a very cosy and comfortable place to stay. The attention to detail was amazing, making it better than some hotels. The kitchen had everything you may need and is planned and set up perfectly to accommodate large numbers of people. Overall a fantastic house to stay in. Customer 77 (January 2011)
Large enough to easily accommodate a big group while retaining an intimate feel. Very well equipped kitchen (managed Christmas dinner for 12!) and well furnished throughout. Beautiful views, cinema/games room was an additional luxury. Something for all ages! Customer 78 (December 2010)
As a special treat for a large family get-together this property takes some beating. The location is excellent, and most of the internal fixtures and fittings top class. The hot tub and entertainment room were a big hit with all our guests, and the luxury of the bedrooms outstanding. Customer 79 (November 2010)
Definitely the best accommodation we have stayed in. Quality of finish and of fittings was extremely high - kitchen for example equipped with every conceivable device and tool. Media room was a huge hit with the teenagers. Customer 80 (October 2010)
Everyone within my party and I are full of compliments regarding this property. We had a lovely week, the house is fantastic, the kids although are grown up (20-ish), loved all the electronic gadgetry and the media room in particular. The property is extremely well furnished and very well equipped with pretty much everything supplied. We even used the swimming pool and hot tub - great. It is also in a good location with lovely views over the estuary and Bideford town. I can thoroughly recommend to a large group looking for somewhere special. Customer 81 (September 2010)
The accommodation was luxurious and well equipped. Having 5 bathrooms made it an ideal property for a large group of people sharing the house. Customer 82 (September 2010)
Thank you for letting us make use of your wonderful ’cottage’ - it has been by far the nicest place we’ve stayed, and we have stayed in a few. Customer 83 (September 2010)
