Very enjoyable weeks holiday spent at this cottage. Ron from Bath (29 July 2017)
Close to matlock and the supermarket. only a short drive to visit chatsworth & haddon hall, which is highly recommended. Claire from Cwmbran (24 June 2017)
This is the second year we have stayed at brook house. We love the cottage it is so quiet and yet in a very good position for visiting around this area. . barringtons down the road has excellent food and is good value for money. We had brilliant weather and the walks around matlock, darley dale, wensley dale and cromford canal are lovely with amazing views. We hope to come back again sometime in the future. Diana from Norwich (27 May 2017)
Not the luxury that was promised in the description, loose taps, leaking shower, loose toilet seat, old and worn cutlery, constant rattle from bathroom towel radiator, old and dated tv. It needs a refurb as it is only a 2 star place and not the 4 star in the description. We have had 2 cottage holidays a year for the last 14 years. This is the 1st time we felt need to leave feedback. Gordon from Margate (31 March 2017)
We had a wonderfull time super place to stay Alan from Nailsworth (24 March 2017)
Brilliant little cottage in an absolute perfect location. couldn't have asked for anymore. Brian from Norwich (24 October 2016)
This is the second time we have stayed there and it won`t be the last - absolutely love the place, it`s location, the facilities, we could move in and live there tomorrow! everywhere in the peak district is in easy reach and it`s easy to get to. The owner is very helpful - can`t rate the place high enough and it`s great value too. Lets hope the secret doesn`t get out so we can go back..... Steve from Bedford (24 September 2016)
What a fantastic place to stay! we loved every minute of our stay and are already planning to go back. The people are so friendly and very welcoming. We went for walks, to the local pub, to the barrington restaurant and overall had a great time. Anthony from Painswick (13 August 2016)
Exelent location Eileen from Hawick (30 July 2016)
An excellent cottage for 2 people wanting to explore the peak district. it is in a very quiet location although just off the a6. the kitchen is well equipped, the living room is fine, very pleasant bedroom and the bathroom is spacious with a separate stand-alone shower cubicle as well as a jacuzzi style bath (that we never tried). the garden is there for any good weather, a friendly pub is 100yards away and the nearby pub (10 mins walk) on the a6 is very good for meals. a sainsburys is not far away and a garage shop for papers, milk etc is within walking distance. Michael from Belfast (16 July 2016)
We really enjoyed our stay at brook house. The cottage is in a peaceful rural location but still within easy walking distance of a shop and pub. there is also a petrol station nearby. the cottage was immaculately clean with all mod cons. It is the perfect place to relax, especially with a large spa bath. There were books, magazines, games and dvds in the lounge. from this room there is access to a private garden with seating and a barbecue. Beverley, the owner, is friendly and helpful. The coffee, milk, wine and cake she provided upon arrival were very welcome after our long motorbike journey! we would not hesitate to book this cottage again if we return to derbyshire in the future. Karen from Cornwall (09 July 2016)
The kitchen needed a really good clean. The oven was filthy inside, alot of the cutlery we had to re wash, the toaster was dirty and quite a few other things needed cleaning. the cottage was comfortable but a few things were missing from the kitchen such as a cheese grater, mixing bowls and toast rack. The view was a brick wall not what was expected from the photographs and nearly all week we had 3 or 4 overflowing wheely bins outside the front door. Lisa from Lincoln (11 June 2016)
Cottage was very comfortable only thing I wish was you had a better view out of the window it was ok if you stood at the window and looked right up the field but if you were sitting on the sofa all you could see was a brick wall, but everything else was lovely nice to be met with a welcome pack so we could have tea ( or wine ) and cake while waiting for our tesco delivery all in all a lovely restful holiday Ruth from Witham (04 June 2016)
A cosy cottage in a quiet location, ideal for exploring this area. Barringtons - an excellent place to eat very good food and good value for money and only 15-20 minutes walk away. Would definitely come back for another visit. Diana from Norwich (28 May 2016)
Lovely welcome. Lovely cottage. Thank you! I am sure we will see you again! Michelle from Dunstable (19 February 2016)
The cottage is just down the hill from our daughter and provided an ideal base for our christmas visit. We have already booked for christmas this year. There are some very good walks on the doorstep which are useful for a bit of post feast exercise. Also a good local butcher who sells a mean goose. Chris from The Borders (28 December 2015)
It was nice for the owner to meet and greet us personally on arrival, the location rural but within 5 minutes of matlock and 20 minutes from bakewell. The cottage was really homely ( we could live there tomorrow!) well equipped, plenty of space, I struggle to really fault it. well placed to visit the peak district, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will be booking again! Steven from Bedford (07 November 2015)
Lovely cottage and very nice owners nothing to much trouble Brenda from Hertfordshire (24 October 2015)
Lovely little cottage in a nice village with a woodland walk up the road and a very friendly pub. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with excellent facilities and parking. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The village gives easy acces to matlock, bakewell an lots of pretty villages. We also cycled 3 sustrans routes along old railway lines. Would definitely go again. Lesley from Taunton (25 July 2015)
Excellent cottage. Very clean cozy welcoming and friendly(wine and cakes ) . excellently situated for exploring the peak district . . no problems or complaints at all!!!! . . many many thanks to the owners. Ron from Cheshunt Herts (27 June 2015)
Found we were well positioned for both the peak district and the derwent valley world heritage sites. Diane from Monmouthshire (30 May 2015)
The property was clean but definately not 4*.bedding,towels,equipment were all cheap.we had to buy pair of pillows because they were so hard.the small lawn had not been mowed & the paint was peeling off the garden furniture.the company who owned brook house were working on a house behind so we looked out on a building site. Julia from New Romney (23 May 2015)
Lovely last minute weekend away with my husband and 6 month old baby. cottage was really cosy and in a great location for local amenities. The owner could not have been more accomodating. It was really nice to be provided with a cot, high chair and even toys which saved a lot of space in the car! would highly recommend. Sara from Manchester (23 February 2015)
Booked a long valentines weekend at brook cottage and had a great time. The cottage is really lovely, owners were very helpful, home from home feel, great location for exploring the peak district. Thankfully the rain held off until we were leaving so we got to enjoy a couple of the local attractions; we visited dovedale ravine for a long walk (30min drive) and the heights of abraham (15min drive), would recommend both. . only a couple of suggestions for improvement; wi-fi connectivity would be great (mostly for searching attractions in the area) and the lounge tv was slightly dated. . would definitely return for another stay, didn't want to leave! =). thanks again! Laura from Milton Keynes (16 February 2015)
Had a great time, cottage a. Was well appointed cosy and warm with well equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom . Martin from Barton (26 January 2015)
Lovely and cosy cottage. Well equipped. Nice welcoming gift left in the fridge. Close to local attractions. We had great time over a christmas. We would fully recommend it. And we will definitely come back. Aggie from Surbiton (Surrey) (28 December 2014)
Very warm & comfortable cottage. Perfect for a couple. Owners very welcoming. Didn't use this time but on a future visit would make use of excellent bus service. Elizabeth from Wirral (07 November 2014)
Lovely cottage but bad to drive out of onto main road. Sylvia from Scarborough (11 October 2014)
We loved our stay at this cottage. the owner was very friendly and helpful and we were greeted with wine and cakes. the location was fabulous with peace and quiet but lots of activities to do all very close by. We will deinitely go back Clare from Loddon (02 August 2014)
Very comfortable ( lovely bedroom!! ) well equipped cottage, good location, owners very friendly, nice to have private outside area to sit ! would certainly go again. Paul from Co Durham (19 July 2014)
We were on honeymoon for the week, when we got there we was met by alison the owners daughter, she was so friendly, they supplied us with milk and cakes to get us nicely refreshed after a long journey,as well as giving us flowers and a fruit bowl, the cottage is well catered for,it was so lovely to see the cows in the field, and there grand children are so lovely,it was so quiet and peaceful,we will defo be going back Jacqueline from Luton Beds (12 July 2014)
A pleasant well appointed cottage in a beautiful location. . unfortunately our stay coincided with building work being performed on another cottage conversion in close proximity. This meant our view from the garden and rear windows were of a builders yard which was an eyesore. We were also disturbed on occasion by the building work although this was curtailed when we raised the issue with the owner. . one other point to note is that the next door property which is also owned by the cottage owners family seems to be running a children's crèche. The outside play area of which is approximately 10 feet from the cottages back garden. There was quite a lot of noise from this play area and we were disturbed most mornings by this (awoken quite early). in summary it is an attractive, well appointed cottage but is let down by by the lack of peace and quiet. Customer 32 from Lincoln (21 June 2014)
Lovely cottage in good location for visiting attractions or walking Jane from Cannock (31 May 2014)
Lovely comfortable & clean cottage in a good location. Lydia from Burntwood (10 May 2014)
The cottage is lovely, and perfect for a couple. There was a bottle of wine, cakes and milk in the fridge on our arrival which was an excellent thought. The furniture is of a good quality, and it is obvious someone has lovingly built and furnished the cottage. The fittings however are slightly at odds with this as items such as the knives and forks, cooking knives, toaster and hairdryer are very cheap - which does let the place down - especially when going for the luxury market. The location is excellent, within easy distance of many of attractions but also very quiet. Customer 35 from Cambridge (12 April 2014)
We had a fantastic stay at brook house over new year- the cottage is lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay- the owners were really friendly and accommodating. The location is amazing and we enjoyed walks into matlock and were impressed that one of the top 10 indian restaurants in the county as rated by trip advisor was only 2 miles away! it was delicious! would definitely stay here again! Emily from Newcastle Upon Tyne (04 January 2014)
Brook house was a very clean and comfortable cottage, ideally located for many different attractions locally and further afield. the owner met us on arrival and she was most helpful and made us feel very welcome. we also enjoyed the very thoughtful "welcome pack" and the fact that the cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived. Thank you Veronica from Emsworth (09 November 2013)
Cosy, comfortable cottage.just what it says on the tin! Robin from St Ives, Cornwall (19 October 2013)
Very nice accommodation.good location. Owner and family friendly and helpful Christopher from Caerphilly (31 August 2013)
A well appointed cottage in a good location.very clean. All the thank-you cards and lovey-dovey stuff all over the place was quite tiresome though. Do not book this cottage if you want peace and quiet or privacy. The family that lives in the detached cottage next door have young young children that are (probably) lovely, but boisterous and loud (like all children).the cottage backs on to their car parking area, so there is little real privacy in the garden area or indeed, the lounge when the patio doors are open or the curtains pulled back. Colin from Basildon (17 August 2013)
Fantastic setting and a lovely clean well appointed cottage at a reasonable price Stephen from Melbourne (27 Jul 2013)
Cottage on the face of it is well presented but actually staying there I found frustrating. kitchen cramped. Not enough cutlery. Draining rack too big for draining board. No hooks for towels or dressing gowns. Toilet poorly positioned next to wall. Grime around base of shower enclosure. the numerous picture frames around the house depicting love was overdone and finger down the throat job. Sorry but some places you take to but not this one. Bill from Buckfastleigh Devon (13 Jul 2013)
Brook house was well located for sightseeing in the derbyshire dales an excellent rental property all round and beautifully presented. a well equipped cottage with every comfort. Will certainly visit again. Maureen from Sandhurst (06 Jul 2013)
Good location. nice size rooms with a garden to sit out on sunny days. jacuzzi bath an added bonus. nice touch of wine, milk and cakes to welcome us. Jan from Lancing West Sussex (22 Jun 2013)
Position in a very nice village with very friendly people Michael from Cockwood, Exeter (25 May 2013)
Very clean.helpful owner showed us round.peaceful, nice view.cakes and wine appreciated.parking ok.jacuzzi fun. Oversize comfortable bed specially liked. Richard from Whitchurch (18 May 2013)
We have rented many holiday cottages over the years and this was by far the best maintained and presented and was immaculately clean. The situation is ideal for walking and sightseeing and since we still have a lot we would like to see and do we will will definitely be back. Yvonne from Stirling (27 April 2013)

Lovely location, level off-road parking. Sue from Orkney (13 October 2012)
Brook House is a lovely cottage for 2, although the kitchen was quite small the rest of the cottage was large enough. The bathroom with its jacuzzi bath was good after a day out walking in the Derbyshire dales. Close to many places of interest and a great area to find many walks if you had the weather!! We would visit the cottage again and recommend it to family and friends. Customer 56 (April 2012)
Lovely stonebuilt cottage in beautiful Derbyshire location. Ideal for walking or relaxing. Customer 57 (April 2012)

This is the second year we have visited this property and is ideal for a winter break before the run up to Christmas ! It is quiet but very handily placed for many Derbyshire attractions. A great base for exploring the area. A warm and friendly welcome from the owner who met us on arrival ! Many Thanks!! Customer 59 (November 2011)
Clean, warm, confortable property with all amenities included for a short break. Larger than normal bedroom and bathroom with jaccuzi bath for this size of cottage. Would visit again if we were going to Derbyshire. Friendly owners. Customer 60 (October 2011)

We were in a one bed cottage, very modern, it had every thing you would what in a home, it was a real home from home, but the best part was the location, lots to look at and to go to. Customer 63 (February 2011)
