We have been coming to eamont for about 20 years now and were dismayed to hear that the previous owner roy who had made us so welcome over the years had died. His friend adrian had taken over running the cottages while we were here and was a good host. So we plan to come again to out favourite holiday cottage.
Jonathan from Dublin (24 June 2017)

Eamont was really lovely. A little tricky to find and a a bit expensive for what it was, but being in a very popular tourist area understandable. Secluded and quiet. The host was wonderful and friendly.
Sara from Exning (23 April 2017)

Had a lovely time. The cottage is lovely, very clean and is well equipped. It suited our needs but some may find it very isolated - a bar/hotel is about a 10 minute drive. The road access to the cottage is very steep and narrow and signage is limited!. entrance to the cottage is via several steep, crooked steps - would cause problems for people with limited mobility.
Laura from Liverpool (29 January 2017)

Beautiful quaint lakes cottage with gorgeous views, quiet and private in a less touristy part of the lakes. Good for walking, amenities quite a few miles away but not a problem for us as we took all provisions. The cottage was comfortable, however, it is advertised as suitable for a baby with a cot provided. But our visit was in january and the temperature was below freezing. The heating went off at night and didn't come back on until early morning. There was a small electric heater as back up but it wasn't warm enough for the baby and she woke up several times in the night as she was cold. The party on the bedroom without the heart were also cold and there were no extra blankets, except one thin one in a wardrobe.we were not told of a thermostat to control the heating ourselves so we presumed it was centrally controlled. For the price we paid for an out of season stay we expected at least for it to be warm and suitable for a small baby. The high chair was also dirty and we were not told where it was kept or the extra blanket. For this reason I wouldn't stay there again in the winter. The cottage also accepts dogs but states they are not allowed upstairs, which is right that they do not to go in bedrooms, but as the lounge is located upstairs and most dogs sit with their owners in communal areas, it is unrealistic to state they are not allowed in the lounge, expecting owners to leave them downstairs in the kitchen.
Jane from Baildon (22 January 2017)

Perfect retreat for peace and quiet. . excellent base for exploring the lakes
Russ from Cheshire (03 January 2017)

Brilliant cottage really nice and comfortable, need transport though but not a problem
Sue from Leeds (30 September 2016)

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable and well equipped cottage.
Confirmed Guest (16 September 2016)

Roy, the owner, was helpful, friendly and gave us good advice on what to do and where to eat. He also gave us a bottle of red wine to welcome us. . we (four adults plus dog) stayed in the cottage in august. It was easy to find and only about 20-25 minutes from the m6. It is situated in a peaceful area. There are no major roads in earshot despite it being easy to get to. We thought it was ideally placed for the northern part of the lake district ie 20 mins on to keswick, 30 mins to helvellyn, 10 minutes to ullswater, 10 minutes to aira force etc. . the property itself was a single floor apartment but still extremely spacious with big bedrooms. The layout was good with a big, square, living room with views out over the surrounding fells. The living room was a relaxing place to be after a day out. The equipment was good and everything was clean and well organised. There's no wifi or mobile signal though which might put off some. . I would recommend staying at eamont, and if roy was happy to see us again, we would all go back asap.
Jon from Storrington (20 August 2016)

A good clean and reasonably spacious cottage in a beautiful area. A bit hard to find at first and off the main roa d but apart from that we had a fine time. Wifi would help.
Bill from Leamington Spa (06 August 2016)

We have been coming here since 1992 and we have tried all three apartments at bank house barns. We have decided that we like eamont the best. By now roy the owner is a friend and is a great help if there is anything you need. The price is all in. Bed linen and towels are provided as well as a bottle of wine. Heating and hot water are provided and there is an electric shower over the bath.the kitchen is well stocked with everything we need to cook meals. There is no washing machine but the owner will do it for you! the apartment has a tv and dvd player. From the apartment you can walk to great mell or to the pub in dockray. Blencathra is a short drive away.while you can climb helvellyn from glenridding which just beyond dockray.there is also rookin head farm nearby where you can do horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, go karting etc. The troutbeck inn is a short drive away and is somewhere to go for an evening meal, but book first. The apartments are up a steep narrow lane. the nearest supermarkets are in keswick or penrith. If you want a quiet holiday in the country away from the crowds then this is a place you should seriously consider. We have stayed hear about 20 times since 1992 so obviously we think its great. There is no wifi which is no problem if you want get away from everything. Mobile coverage is sometimes great but coverage was completely lost for several days when we were there. However, this is a common problem in the lake district.
Paul from Dublin (09 July 2016)

Our family really enjoyed our stay at eamont cottage, which is one of three beautiful cottages that have been converted from an older farm building. . upon arrival we were greeted by roy who is a star! kids loved him and he is such a character. . when we got the keys and went in to the cottage there was a nice bottle of red wine awaiting us from roy, that was enjoyed later that evening. . we were lucky enough to have some great weather during our visit and this allowed us to have 2 x bbqs (one outside the cottage with the cows and sheep, the other down on derwent water near keswick which is only a 20 minute ride away.). . location wise, the cottages are on top of a hill and when at the bottom on the main road, you are 3.5miles away from the a66 or 1.5miles away from the royal hotel which has a bar and does lovely food and real ales. royal hotel also has a nice outdoor area for kids and dogs can have a run off their leads on the raised lawned area. . the 1.5miles doesn't sound long however the first 1 mile of it is along a very fast and winding country lane with no path so be careful if you choose to walk it with kids or the dog!. . if you jump in the car, you are only 5mins away from the lovely aira force waterfall and a further few minutes down in to glenridding which sits on the gorgeous ullswater lake and at the foot of helvelyn!!! (we did this with the kids and the dog on the tuesday.. 13miles around trip to the top and back to the traveller's rest pub for a much needed drink). . the cottage is really clean and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. amazing views out of the hills as you sit in the lounge or bedrooms and the sounds of birds chirping away, lambs and cows in the fields. ideal break from the hustle and bustle of normal life. . we would definitely go back and stay here again and highly recommend it to others. . tony, vicky, erin, owen & buster x
Tony from Strensall, York (03 June 2016)

The cottage was very spacious, clean and well kept and quiet, roy was extremely helpful showing us around, there was also an iron and ironing board and large bedrooms and bathrooms. Both of my children enjoyed staying there and were sad to leave it was also in an ideal, location, close to many of the main areas.
Confirmed Guest (25 March 2016)

Brilliant secluded cottage. Very friendly welcome. Immaculate cottage and very clean and homely
Peter from Newcastle Upon Tyne (07 February 2016)

Good value accommodation, comfortable and located in a great place close to the motorway for arrival! . . it would be brilliant if it had a woodburning stove for the wet cold lake district weather!
Andrew from Dunfermline (15 November 2015)

Comfortably sized quaint cottage situated in an idyllic quiet location
Confirmed Guest (01 November 2015)

Perfect location, very quiet with beautiful views. The only downside to it was that there is no internet.
Michael from Melton Mowbray (19 September 2015)

The experience was better than expected, the owner of the property lives nearby and couldn't of been more helpful and welcoming.
Sanjeev from Luton (29 June 2015)

We had a fabulous time in a cosy, clean cottage with everything you could need. the location was great with glenridding and keswick in easy reach. roy the owner was friendly but unobtrusive. there is a bridle way outside the front door so perfect, safe walks for the kids to enjoy and the views of blencathra early in the morning are stunning. we got back last night and have already decided to stay again.
Rob from Worcester (11 April 2015)

A lovely place to stay, a warm and cosy cottage. We found eamont very comfortable and spacious. The bed was comfy and we slept really well. Well-equipped throughout, we found everything we needed. Great walks for our dog and brilliant for stargazing too. A very warm welcome indeed.
Hannah from Bingley (23 March 2015)

Very pleasant apartment in lovely location. Good host/owner. Lots of hot water, all very comfortable. Would be improved by sharp kitchen knives & chopping board.
Confirmed Guest (09 March 2015)

Only real negative point was the beds .
Mark from Harrogate (01 March 2015)

The property was very cold once the heating was turned off (heating is controlled by owner). and this made it hard to sleep. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable and a good location
Customer 22 from Kendal (15 February 2015)

A lovely little holiday cottage in a great location away from the main tourist areas. excellent access to the "quiet" fells in the lakes and a great location to take a dog.

Paul from Dublin (16 August 2014)

Very friendly landlord and helpful. Lovely location high up in the hills. Enjoyed our stay very much. Some very tight bends to gain access to parking space but the view and walks were really nice and justified the location. We used the property as a base for a section of the coast to coast walk from rosthwaite to shap. Would recommend the cottage for this section of the coast to coast. Thanks roy.
Stephen from King'S Lynn (18 April 2014)

Roy, the owner, is a great guy, really welcoming and his 'welcome patter' is verging on hilarious (and useful too). the cottage is in a very quiet location, with walks right on the doorstep - literally - once there, its a question of walking out the door, no car journey required, deal if the weather is not so great, as you can just wander back to the cottage and put the kettle on!. highly recommended if you want to get away from the crowds.
Andrew from Bedford (06 January 2014)

A well appointed cottage in a good location.the cottage is well equipped and well heated.a friendly owner gave us a warm welcome and we very much enjoyed our stay.
David from Wirral (24 November 2013)

Neat place, friendly owner, we cooked all our meals and the kitchen had everything we needed. Found everything we needed. . . the only thing I would suggest is changing is the heat cycle. It was off at night which was fine (we took extra blankets) but it did not come on again until 9am and we were up at 6am.
Daniel from Mildenhall, Suffolk, Uk (14 October 2013)

The was a great place to stay, and we had an fantasitic week. My only issue was that the website indicated there would be laundry facilities but this was not the case- not a problem if you know in advance but it would be better to have accurate info from the start.
Brenda from Cambridge (28 September 2013)

Location, decoration, furniture
Tim from Colchester (03 November 2012)

Simon from Ashby De La Zouch (19 October 2012)

John from Fleet (22 September 2012)

Helpful owner who lives on site. Unlimited hot water. Free bottle of wine. Can walk to pub if fit. Several walks from cottages including great mell. We have been going for the last 20 years. Ideal for those who want a quiet country location.
Jonathan from Dublin (28 July 2012)

Everything was great. The cottage was beautiful, very spacious and well equipped. The landlord is incredibly welcoming and went out of his way to help us with whatever we needed. The location was stunning, very close to the lake. So all in all amazing!
Diana from Brighton (27 May 2012)

Beautiful cottage and location. Two of my friends took me there on a girly week end away, the weather was beautiful, the cottage so incredibly cute with beautiful views and the landlord a star and went above and beyond making us feel at home! I would most definitely go back and would recommend. Very close to the lake. 5 *
Customer 35 (May 2012)

Excellent location, friendly and knowledgeable owner, clean and comfortable accommodation with amazing views.

The property was in good condition, you had everything you needed. Landlord was lovely too.
Customer 37 (March 2012)

A lovely clean, family friendly cottage.
Customer 38 (February 2012)

Very comfortable and warm. Pleasingly furnished. Peaceful location. Good views. [Possibly not helpful for us to fill rest of this in as we were using property as an annexe to our own down the road. It would make a lovely spot for someone to spend hols though not cheap. Much better appointed than our basic cottage!].

Very comfortable and warm. Pleasingly furnished. Peaceful location. Good views. Possibly not helpful for us to fill rest of this in as we were using property as an annexe to our own down the road. It would make a lovely spot for someone to spend holidays though not cheap. Much better appointed than our basic cottage!.
Customer 40 (April 2011)

Excellent position for splendid walks on the fells and ridge routes Spectacular scenery in this part of the lakes. We were very fortunate to have only one day of rain when we had a very enjoyable day in Keswick. The rest of the week was glorious sunshine and blue skies with superb views in every direction. It was always great to come home to a lovely warm cottage and have hot water whenever we needed it for a bath or shower.
Customer 41 (March 2011)

Very quiet situation very near top of hill with no passing traffic. Good views. We had everything we needed: it was very well equipped, especially with kitchen utensils. Owner on hand if necessary. Own parking place.
Customer 42 (September 2010)

Off the beaten track - ideal for relaxing.
Customer 43 (May 2010)

The property is one of three. These, plus the owner’s dwelling are located together in a converted farm building. Therefore, consideration has to be taken for others staying at the properties to keep noise and disturbance acceptable. Whilst we were there, other tenants were considerate, and is was a relaxing stay. The location is excellent for walking, as it is located in the Ullswater fells. No need to drive but just walk out the door and up the farm path onto the hills. Accommodation has plenty of room. Would go back there in future.
Customer 44 (April 2010)

Spacious, well-kept, homely, and in an excellent location. Wonderfully remote, no passing cars - perfect for some quality time away.

Customer 50 (September 2009)
